Some char on the noodles which added abit of wok hey, and I liked the wetness of the dish. Sambal was also shiok and lent a bit of heat to the dish. Only complaint is that the taste was quite light.

Well fried with a delightful smokiness, the viscosity of the noodles coat your mouth with a fragrant seafood flavour.

The robust flavours of the stock are also absorbed by the thick yellow noodles. Admittedly, the flavours are not the most intense and there is a lack of egginess, but it is still super good, especially with the sambal chili in the mix.

For such a legendary establishment, I still don't understand why it's so light on flavour. Same impression on more than one visit. Very wet though and that's how I like my Hokkien mee.

It’s always a family treat whenever Dad brings home a packet of fried Hokkien Mee ($12 for 3-4 pax) wrapped in opeh leaf from Original Serangoon Fried Hokkien Mee for supper:) The Hokkien Mee is fragrant, moist and deliciously fried with prawns, sotong and pork belly😍 Apparently the opeh leaf enhances the wok-hei, but it’s pretty good even when we had it on a plate at the coffee shop!

The Hokkien mee was full of unami and have a subtle smoky flavour. For a complete experience, request Hokkien mee to be wrapped in opeh leaf to enhance the taste 😋.

PRICE: $10 for a large portion, just enough for 2 pax

WAITING TIME: Short 5 to 7 minutes on a weekday night

PRAWNS: 8

FRIED PORK LARD: Noooooo :(

CHILLI: Sambal

WOK HEI: Yes

PARKING: Free after 10pm

NOTES: Sorely missing fried pork lard and lime. Today's noodles did have the wok hei but was surprisingly bland, like it was missing a dash or two of salt.
