I sat down then the waiter asked me if I wanted still water or sparkling water... maybe he said it was bottled but I don’t remember hearing it or it was so soft because of the mask... then it came in a glass bottle, I thought it was just one of those restaurants that put water into bottles to serve...

But when I get the bill, apparently the water was $8. 😡 I was not told it was extra charge, and it was not told to me after I told them I wanted to order with Burpple, with is an excuse the server made saying he told me it was a bottled drink and I only told him I was using burpple when I ordered, while he came over to say sorry for charging us for $8 water.

Another waiter, before that waiter came over to apologise, was like if we say still water than it’s not tap water and of course would be from Italy or something. I really had nothing to say, I understand if I heard it wrong, but like if you ask if we want drinks and you say still or sparkling water, would I not assume still water is not sparkling and so is like tap water? Or is it just me?

And they didn’t even write off the charge of the water, which I didn’t know was chargeable, which they could have told me after I ordered with burpple instead of giving me the bill and saying they didn’t know because I told them I want water before telling them I have burpple 😡

I’m going to be paranoid for life whenever a waiter comes to ask me if I want water after sitting down, I need to ask if it’s a bottled water that is chargeable at $8 🤦🏻‍♀️

* MAKE RESERVATION IN ADVANCE* Pardon the savage image because I gobbled up my main before taking a proper photo. The highlight on the left: Stracci Ai Gamberi E Capesante. This pasta with saffron cream sauce was divine. This is the kinda sauce you will cry with frustration when you suddenly think of it again because you CANNOT recreate it so easily. Having the stracci was a first time for me as well, an Italian Mee Hoon Kueh of sorts. We had soups for appetisers (Cream of Mushroom & Lobster Bisque), pasta for mains (aforementioned & Spaghetti Alle Vongole Aglio Olio E Peperonicino) and shared dessert (Panna Cotta All’amaretto & Torta Di Mele Al Mascarpone - Apple Cake topped w Ice Cream). Had to hustle in 90min for safe management measures but honestly the food came timely and service staff was friendly. As recommended in the other burpple reviews which was useful: ask for tap water if you don’t wanna drain your wallet and are not intending on some bubbly.

Next up was the 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨 🍄⁣
Was surprised to see a mushroom risotto not served in white cream sauce! While the colour doesn’t look too good, it was delish 😋 Arborio rice with porcini mushrooms & parmesan cheese, simple yet authentic & good 👍🏻⁣

First up, the 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢 😋⁣
This ring shaped pasta was served with Iberico Pork sautéed with parma ham, broccoli 🥦 & peas in mint olive oil & topped with parmesan!⁣
Mint is a big NO NO for me, however as the dish was really savoury & of quality, for the first time I concede defeat and gave in to the mint taste so that I don’t forgo the entire forest 🌳 The dish will be perfect for me without the use of mint😂⁣

This place as extremely overwhelming ratings about how great the pasta is. I think I may have ordered the wrong dish and the next time I go back, I’ll try the handmade ones instead as a second chance!

Very average vongole, clams were normal not super fresh and pasta was al Dante. Could not taste the white wine in the dish as well. I’ve eaten better vongole else where and the price point is steep as well.

Verdict: 2.75/5

Experience was bad. Went there because we saw a lot of reviews on this place. It turns out the food was underwhelming. Both the dishes were chef’s recommendation, however this taste nothing more than average or even worse. Both the dishes was served exactly like what it is in the photo. Rather sad.

Oh ya, they do serve iced water! The waiter only offered us 2 options, sparkling water or still water, which cost $7.50. It’s also quite apparent that 90% of the table fell for this too. Will never go back there again.
