Last but not least, dinner ended with ๐ข๐ฟ๐ต ๐ก๐ฒ๐ฒ (my favourite wedding dinner dessert!) and the combination of sweet yam paste, ginkgo nuts and coconut milk is the bomb. A wonderful conclusion to this satisfying Teochew dinner!
The ๐ฆ๐๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ต ๐๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ผ๐ ($๐ฎ๐ฎ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐บ) is really good. The kway teow is akin to a springier version of hor fun and the large surface area of the kway teow is thorough coated in chai poh - this is very tasty and fragrant!
The ๐ง๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ ($๐ญ๐ฎ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น) is actually quite tough and I didnโt quite enjoy this.
The ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ป๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ข๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ is full of flavour and the prawns are coated in a savoury oyster sauce - pretty delicious!
The ๐ข๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ข๐บ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ is unlike the oyster omelette found in hawker centres - it is doused in a sauce that can be quite greasy, especially when you are eating it on its own without rice. Personally, I prefer the dry kind of oyster omelette which is crispier and comes with a chewy flour mixture.
๐ง๐ผ๐ณ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ธ๐ถ ๐ ๐๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐ถ ๐ฉ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐ is a pretty standard dish, but nonetheless comforting and homely.
Iโm a big fan of pork belly, so the ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐๐ป is totally up my alley. The pork belly is soft and thoroughly braised, and they go very well with the warm pillowy buns.
Peng Restaurant Catering Services is a old school Teochew restaurant at 30 Lorong 1 Realty Park. My family went there for the first time and we ordered the ๐ฑ-๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ($๐ญ๐ฏ๐ด) for dinner.
First up, we had ๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต which came with ngor hiang, salad prawns, smoked duck and century egg. The ngor hiang is stuffed with chunky bits of prawn, pork and carrots, wrapped in beancurd skin and deep fried - it is pretty good with the sweet sauce that is served on the side.
Donโt finish your meal here without getting their dessert, and if this is your first time; then this is definitely a must to order.
Super creamy with the coconut milk, you can find lots of ingredients inside with generous portion of sweet yam. A truly Teochew dessert to complete your dinner here.
Here comes the main star of my dinner, a big size of pomfret cooked with Teochew steam.
It is one of the signature cooking method among Teochew cuisine, which is fresh and light. The soup taste sour yet savoury at the same time. So very refreshing actually and I canโt stop drinking the soup.
Of course the fish itself also easy to eat.
Sambal Kang Kong is always my favourite choice whenever visit a restaurant like this, simply it remain one of my favourite vegetable dishes.
The same goes to theirโs which I like it as well. Cooked perfectly with the sambal.
Canโt believe the last post of reviews on Burpple for this restaurant was way back to 2015. This place really deserve more reviews.
Their oyster omelette is definitely one of the reason you should come and try. It is the wet type, unlike the usual crispy one.
I really like it so much as every bites was so fluffy and delicious, full of omelette taste. Their oyster also very juicy.
Seeing so little reviews here, I guess not many people know about this place.
Popular among the older generations of people here, for their authentic Teochew cuisine in this hidden location.
They located off the main road at Realty Park of Hougang. So you have to really go in to this area only you know about this place.
Even they are so hidden, thereโs still lots of people here when we came for dinner over the weekend.
This is one of the restaurants that you could enjoy your foods on the road beside it. So you can opt for the indoor or outdoor setting.
First on our table is one of their special dishes. Have to say their tofu was so fluffy and soft, paired with delicious sauce and lots of golden mushrooms.
