#TIP: Please call before heading down, I did not realise a reservation was required before heading down and ended at making a reservation on the spot and had to wait over an hour for our seat.

We tried both the Gyuniku Curry (Beef Slices Curry) and the Chicken Katsu Curry (Chicken Curry).

The curry taste was consistent in both dishes, it both tasted good with little slices of carrots. The portion was decent.

For the Gyuniku Curry, some of the beef slices were noticeably chewy and tougher than I had expected, but some beef pieces were made just right, tender and easy on the chewing (I am not sure what is the reason to the inconsistency in the meat slices), overall it was still acceptable.

For Chicken Katsu Curry, I would think it was better compared to the Gyuniku Curry. The Chicken was crispy and tender on the inside, paired with curry it was a good combination.

Overall, it’s an acceptable place if you’re looking for a convenient place to get your curry don fix, considering that Sakae Sushi has multiple locations across Singapore. Even better if you’re paying 1-1 using burrple beyond.

We got the Chicken Katsu Curry Don and Gyuniku Curry Don.

The Curry Don taste good and food portion is just nice but not sure if it’s worth the price in my opinion if not for the 1-for-1 burpple beyond deals unless you are craving for Curry Don.

If you’re having sashimi, definitely order the aka ebi - Argentinean red shrimp that are plumper and meatier than their ama ebi cousins, as well tasting impossibly sweet, so much so that you'd think they'd been cured in sugar.

Thanks @burpple for the invite and @sakaegrpsg for the hospitality!

On its own , the chicken was pretty okay and had nothing much to shout about. But the accompanying truffle mayo sauce changes the entire game which makes this dish all the more delectable. Do take note that this dish is exclusively available only at Sakae Teppanyaki outlets!⁣

Ended the meal on a good note with this refreshing Apple Sorbet which was a real treat, with the apple imported directly from Japan. Served icy cold, you could still see the frost on the apple, with the sorbet sitting in the middle of the somewhat hollow apple, absorbing all the sweet fragrance. Definitely a dessert that taste as good as it looks!⁣⁣

This Australian Sirloin Beef Cubes stole the show of all the dishes I’ve tried. Gorgeously fatty, one of this utterly tender and juicy beef cubes is enough to render one speechless. As if that wasn’t enough, garlic was thrown in for that extra touch of decadence and making this dish all the more pleasurable on one’s palate. Seriously, please order this dish if you do patronise one of their teppanyaki outlets, I had this at Parkway Parade’s branch!⁣

Jumbo Crab Garlic Rice is definitely one of the must order here, with the pungent (in a good way!) garlic fragrance hitting your taste buds with every bite, and the sweetness from the crab meat to top it all off.⁣

Over the top is how I would described this Fried Maki with Negitoro & Kanifumi. The chef skilfully wrapped the ingredients within the sushi rice, and then topped it off with endless sauce (not complaining!), ikura, tobiko. With 'instagrammable food' being all the rage these days, Sakae Sushi has certainly hit a home run with this dish.⁣⁣

Sakae Sushi was one of the earliest conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Singapore. However, their brand have since fallen on the back seat due to the emergence of fellow competitors. At a recent Eatup, we were treated to some of the food from their revamped menu and i was pleasantly surprised by the quality and array of items.

The other dessert we tried was the Apple Sorbet which was also very enjoyable. This was basically like having Fuji Apple in sorbet form, so refreshing! And the presentation of the dessert was very admirable too, so pretty!

For desserts, the Durian Mochi was very enjoyable for me as i’m a huge durian lover. Hidden under each soft snow skins were durian flesh that were sweet and bursting with durian flavour. Shiok!

That said, the Chicken with Truffle Mayo (only available at Sakae Sushi’s Teppanyaki outlets) was pretty good. The chicken was quite juicy and flavourful, and when you dip it with the addictive truffle mayo sauce, you just cannot stop at one!

Consisting of some of my favourite ingredients here, this platter was made up of lightly flamed salmon, nama hotate and foie gras which melted in your mouth instantly. Needless to say, these sushi were well worth the calories!⁣

That said, this plate of Beef Teppanyaki was my favourite dish of the night. Not my best picture but definitely needs a post as each cubes of beef was torched perfectly; each one of them bursting with flavours and juices! So addictive that it leaves you yearning for more! Available only at Sakae Sushi’s Teppanyaki outlets.

This Jumbo Crab Garlic Rice (only available at Sakae Sushi’s Teppanyaki outlets) was one of my favourite dishes of the night. The eggy garlic fried rice was complimented perfectly by the sweetness from the jumbo crab! One bowl is simply not enough (for me at least)!

For the Aburi selection, we were treated to Salmon, Nama Hotate (scallop) and Foie Gras. The scallops stood out most among the 3. Torch-seared and served in tobiko gold and spicy sauce, the blowtorched scallop tasted so good!

Started off with a plate of assorted sashimi (tasting portion pictured). The sashimi were all very fresh and good but the standout for me was the aka ebi (Argentine red shrimp); so plump and naturally sweet!

Adding on a local twist to this dish, this soft shell crab came with chili crab sauce, which was tangy and had the right level of spiciness. It was crispy and really tantalises your taste buds.⁣

Seemingly a norm in Japanese restaurants now, this Pitan Tofu is served chilled, with century egg paste drizzled over it, and the fish roe providing the dish with a contrasting bit of crunch!⁣

Sorbet that tastes exactly like the Fuji apple it was sitting in – I have to say this was a refreshing finish to the meal and quite the pretty dessert with the pure white of frost set against the blushing red of the fruit’s skin.

One for the durian lovers, the delicate snow skins concealed a particularly pungent core of sweet durian flesh whose potency was quite unexpected.
