Sinpopo Brand (Joo Chiat)

656 Wishlisted
An ultra-retro environment that serves famous local cuisine in Joo Chiat. Sinpopo Brand may not strike you as a date kinda place, but it does bring a fun element to the night. Although the food is not quite rave-worthy, the idea of sharing an ice ball in a laid back 50s style eatery playing oldies on the 'radio' can be quite charming. Perhaps you could take a stroll along Joo Chiat Road after dinner, stop by Sinpopo, talk for hours about your childhood, and just enjoy each other ;)

Cod fish $18++ was so so yummy! It was charred on the outside but yet so tender on the inside. The glass noodle fried with garlic and lemon complemented the cod fish perfectly !πŸ‘

Babi toast (minced pork on bread, deep fried $7++) so-so, nothing to shout about.

Gula melaka shake $8++ which tasted like chendol, was way too too too sweet!!! πŸ€”...Gula melaka very cheap is it?

Different twists to two common side dishes: thinly shredded luncheon meat that’s fried till crispy, and lightly seasoned har cheong kai that’s served with an unique shrimp-paste based sauce.

My favorite dessert from Sinpopo - fragrant durian pengat with creamy ice cream & crunchy croutons. Yums!

Being a lover of nonya kuehs and cakes, this was a godsend. The cakes were moist and every bite was a burst of flavor. Suggest to bring more friends so that you can order a variety of their desserts!

Featuring Mao Shan Wang, Pandan Kaya, Ondeh Ondeh and many other local flavours.
Also check out their Tiramisu-style dessert packed in lovely jars, but done with Milo, local Kopi and even Mao Shan Wang.
And they’ve expanded another of their retail outlet at Square 2 now.

The chicken was super crispy and juicy with a fragrant prawn paste flavour, complemented with light and fluffy buns. We enjoyed this a lot πŸ˜‹
