Rich, chocolatey & slightly fudgy yet not too sweet. Moist brownie with crackly top, sprinkled with sea salt which complements well😋 there's melted choco chips inside too!

also tried their pistachio coffee.. rich nutty taste but seems too thick for my liking

hmmm this was not too bad.. the chicken was slightly bland. i mean there’s the spicy chicken option as well so i guess that would have fared better. otherwise i think it’s an okay toastie as the sourdough bread was not bad. def not TMBH standard for sure

oh and one thing i disliked is that they left the chicken skin on and so there’s this layer of fats / jelly like thing which is a no go…

had a chance to try their banana cake, chocolate brownie and matcha black sesame cheesecake!

really enjoyed the moist banana cake. the chocolate brownie was not overly sweet and had sea salt sprinkled on top of it to balance out the sweetness. also enjoyed the slight molten chocolate inside the brownie. the matcha black sesame was really not bad. it’s not cloying and had the subtle black sesame taste.

A walk around the Telok Ayer Street area looking for lunch and that’s how we found out about the new Snap Cafe that had recently replaced the now-defunct outlet of Toast Box at The Clift — some might also recall the space being the same location which the now-defunct GAEST used to occupy in the building as well. Currently in its soft launch phase, Snap Cafe is one of the newer F&B additions to the Central Business District. As with how cafes are like these days, the design language of Snap Cafe is relatively clean and minimalist — somewhat achieving a sort of Japandi vibe with the use of some form of geometry with the booth seating amidst a large use of wooden-accented furnishings in a space that is decked in a white decor theme. Considering the space limitations or the space which Snap Cafe occupies, there is a good number of dine-in seatings within the cafe; these seatings largely caters for smaller groups of two to four pax, though tables can still be joined together for larger groups of six pax if needed. Since there is not much of a properly-fitted kitchen at Snap Cafe, Snap Cafe serves up some dishes that can be prepared in the small food preparation space behind the counter; this means that the menu does comprise of a toasties-centric selection for those whom are looking for hot food options here. Aside from toasties, Snap Cafe does serve up a rotational selection of bakes and cakes. Being a spot that is noted to serve up specialty coffee, Snap Cafe does serve up espresso-based coffee using a blend of coffee beans which they roasted in-house; there are also a range of Sparkling Refreshers and Signature beverages (think special concoctions such as the Pistachio Espresso Latte) as well as chocolate, matcha and teas sourced from TWG Tea as well.

Skimming through the menu of toasties that are available at Snap Cafe, the Gochujang Prawn Toasties was the item from the Toasties section of the menu that really caught our attention here. All Toasties served up at Snap Cafe are served in two sizes — a half portion, or a full-sized Toasties that comes with two slices of bread that is sliced into halves. For our order of the Gochujang Prawn Toasties, we went for the full-sized portion. It is not being described in the menu of what elements are included in the Gochujang Prawn Toasties; that being said, we did visually note that the Gochujang Prawn Toasties comes with a rather simple composition of toasted bread with an Otak-Otak esque shrimp patty that comes sandwiched in between. Taking our first bite into the Gochujang Prawn Toasties, we felt that the textures in the dish was absolutely on-point; the toasted bread comes all warm and crisp — they definitely nailed it in terms of both texture and aesthetics where one can also notice all the grilled marks on the toast from the toasting process. In between, the Gochujang-infused shrimp patty was pretty close to what we had expected — a soft, steamed patty almost akin to that of Otak-Otak that is made from fish paste and comes stuffed with small pieces of shrimp. Unlike the Otak-Otak that we are used to, there isn’t any hint of rempah spices that could be detected in the patty here; something which we found to be rather reasonable considering that was not what it was supposed to be. That being said, we did feel that the shrimp patty did come with a brighter note with a mildly spicy kick that would suit those with slightly lower levels of tolerance to spiciness to tingle the tastebuds; the shrimp on the shrimp patty also helps to add a good bite that elevates the textures in the dish.

While the items served up at Snap Cafe are on the simpler side of things, one thing we note about the offerings that they serve up is how they seemed to be pretty thoughtful with whatever that they serve — most cafes with a lack of space to prepare hot food tend to serve up rather uninspiring fare that is sometimes pretty commercially-made. Snap Cafe seems to be more of an establishment that makes most of the elements in their offerings from scratch — case-in-point would probably be the patty featured in the Gochujang Prawn Toasties which we have had, as well as that of the Black Sesame Crumble Cheesecake which we also tried during our visit to Snap Cafe. The Black Sesame Crumble Cheesecake might be a little bit dense in texture for some, but the Cheesecake comes with a good balance of that familiar creaminess and slightly tangy more of a New York-style Cheesecake and a hint of roasty black sesame that had been mixed into the cheesecake layer. To top things off, the Black Sesame Crumble Cheesecake also comes with a layer of crumbles atop the cheesecake — something almost akin to the crumbly bits that one can find in an Apple Crumble Pie for added texture. Meanwhile, the Pistachio Espresso Latte was also right on point; something that would appeal to that of pistachio lovers. The menu claims the Pistachio Espresso Latte features 100% pistachio nuts; while being a espresso-based beverage at heart, one could definitely detect the slight saltishness and nuttiness of the pistachios in this rather unique concoction. Prices of the Toasties at Snap Coffee are at either $9 or $12 for a full-sized portion; this is pretty much dependent on which Toasties one decides to go for here — one could say that this is a little pricey considering the portion size, though it is worth considering how Snap Coffee is a pretty much a specialty cafe and most of the elements do seem to be made from scratch; definitely a spot which we would consider returning to for a light bite for lunch!
