Tambuah Mas is a very special place for me. My family comes here to have authentic Indonesian food ever since I was a young girl. Not only has the high food quality not change, the interior of the restaurant remains stuck in time, always bringing comfort and nostalgia to frequent customers like us. It has also become the restaurant of my choice to celebrate my birthday every year and it has been for 5 years straight.
The Dendeng Belado, Singkong Santan and Rendang Sapi are my absolute favourites that I wish to recommend.
Price is a little high but I suppose on par with Hjh Maimunah and the portions are big for this set so come HUNGRY!!!
One of our familyโs favourite meal. I think they make the best tauhu telur. Beancurd and egg deep fried to perfection drizzled with a sweet dark sauce with peanuts.
Other must order includes satay, rendang and fried chicken.
We ordered direct from the restaurant and itโs really convenient to have delicious, warm Indonesian food on the table. ๐
Super freshly fried egg batter and beancurd drizzled in a spicy sweet dark sauce... so good! Iโve only had Tahu Telur this food in Indonesia.
We ordered:
1 x Tahu Telor
1 x Gado-Gado
1 x Ayam Goreng Istimewa
2 x Rendang Lembu (the single portion is very small!)
1 x Udang Belado
1 x Sayur Lodeh
1 x Sotong Belado
1 x Telor Dada
4 x Nasi Putih
After applying the 10% Chope voucher this came to $118.75. Worth it! Good for family meals. Just donโt make the mistake I did and go to Tanglin Mall. Tambuah Mas (Tanglin) is located in the older Tanglin Shopping Centre! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Great crunch of egg and beancurd with a generous pour of sweet sauce, but was a little oily and pricey.
This was a lunch menu catered for some students we were hosting.
The tahu telur (bottom right corner) was definitely a major highlight. Cubes of egg tofu were deep fried to a crispy golden brown and topped with a halo of deep fried egg white. It was doused with some a thick, sweet and spicy dark sauce. The combination of silky tofu and deep fried batter was heavenly. The egg white halo soaked up the sauce and turned it into dripping strings of deliciousness which I ate like noodles. And that delightfully savory sauce coated everything with its perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess.
Another highlight was their signature fried chicken (top right corner). Served piping hot, the strong whiff of Indonesian spices shone through with every bite. The breast meat was not dry but instead tore apart easily, and the meat inside glistened with chicken juice. I was so impressed because it wasn't the least bit oily despite its delightful crispiness.
Finally, their chendol which (not pictured here) finished off our delicious meal with a bang. Served with coconut milk and gula melaka with bits of sago spooned into the bottom, it was sweet, rich and the perfect respite from Singapore's heat.
All in all, really delicious, authentic, well-executed Indonesian food with familiar, time-tested flavors. I loved the food here.
9.5/10
One of the best beef rendang dishes you can find in Singapore. They also have a good dessert menu. Around 20-30 SGD per person.
I'd say, order this unless you really crave for something super deep fried. Have tried better Indon fried fish than this. ๐๐ป
Not too bad, though my Grandma does it much better than the restaurant. So I'd say, try it if you haven't tried Gado Gado because how can you not!? Otherwise, just give it a miss.
This is soooo good! I can only drool over my picture! Sadly, I didn't notice how much it costs. My guess is about $10?
What's left of our team lunch - Tahu Telur, Ikan Pepes, Beef Rendang, Gado Gado, Sayur Lodeh, Satay, tempeh and Sup Buntat
Was recommended this place for authentic food by an Indonesian friend and it didn't disappoint. The tahu telor was all I ever wanted, juicy inside, crisp outside with just enough grease to coat your lips, all smothered in the most amazing sweet tangy sauce. The beef rendang was super tender as well with a really rich coconut flavour. And belachan kangkong for a balanced meal. The assam prawns fell short though, there wasn't enough assam flavour and the prawns weren't succulent. Washed it all down with a creamy avocado milkshake.
Portion size was just right to feed two people for a reasonable price of $56.90. Will definitely go back again for my tahu telor fix. Remember to keep having your iced water refilled, you'll need it. Hope everyone had a good dinner :-)
Awesome food and though it doesn't look like a lot, it was very filling for two girls! Love how the otah was meaty rather than pasty. Love the sauce the vegetable was in. Coconut, spicy and thick. As for the chicken it was curry and flavourful. The price is quite reasonable as well. ๐
