Expresso Martini ($15 nett)
.
Recently opened @MrBrightsideSg at Duxton Hill provides yet another option for office-goers in search of a much needed place to wind down the work week. Though relatively new, this place is rather packed as the drinks are mostly wallet friendly without compromising on quality. My Expresso Martini was smooth though I would have preferred the coffee taste to be slightly stronger. Visit on Thursdays when all the cocktails go for $12 nett instead!

The grub here though, was a tad disappointing as the ones we had just wasnā€™t on the same satisfaction level as their drinks. The asian tacos (3 for $18) felt a little sad when the Tom Yum Goong version had just 1 piece of deep fried ebi topped with what reminds me of sweet thai chilli.

The bites here are pretty simple; we got 3/4 of their tacos flavours and if youā€™re choosing between them, Iā€™d recommend getting the Spicy Street Chicken! Two slices of juicy deep-fried chicken thigh in a spicy glaze, this was the tastiest out of the lot though it had a little bit of that over-fried taste.

The Tom Yum Prawn was a little sad though; a deep-fried ebi prawn with a spicy mayo drizzled over meant a lot of wrap and breading and very little meat.

The Brightside really is more of a bar, while they do very quite a wide range of food, donā€™t expect too much from them in terms of food.

But I will say, the spam fries here are mighty fine. Had a nice crisp layer on the outside and a soft, meaty bite on the inside. Sauces were a nice plus too, with Thai chilli sauce and this German curry ketchup that tasted like a tangier version of Macā€™s curry sauce.

A slight spin on the Mai Tai, the Very Mai Tai uses Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and adds egg white for a punchier, smoother rendition of the drink. šŸ¹

Really enjoyed this and on Thursday, they have Thursday Cocktails where they go at $12 per pop all night long! The Brightside seems like a really buzzy place and with its cheery decor and board games, a great place to have drinks with friends or maybe for a birthday/henā€™s night. šŸ˜
