This dish is not eligible for burpple beyond, was a tad disappointed when I found out (while trying to order at the counter). But tried it anyway. Food certainly didn’t disappoint, honestly would come back here for this bowl! Also wanted to try their noodles but they ran out so I had rice instead. Beef was nicely cooked, not too tough and sauce is very flavourful.

The 1 for 1 here made the meal real affordable paid $24 for 4 people and we all added an onsen egg each. The rice bowls are decently sized and they are quite generous with the protein. Pity they didn’t have the sweet and spicy pork when I went which is what I wanted to try. The mala pork was tender even though it was a lean cut of meat and the spice really came
through, even the rice was laced with sichuan peppercorns and dried chili. You can even top your rice with the fried shallots provided to give the bowl a textural contrast. My only gripe is that the rice bowl was abit too wet?? especially after mixing in the egg as I prefer to taste the individual grains of rice.

This place might be a hidden jem hidden amidst the cafes around the area.

The braised pork was nicely braised and so tender it melts in your mouth! Teriyaki chicken is great too, with a good charred skin. The only down side for the teriyaki chicken was that it didn’t have much sauce on the rice as compared to the lor Bak!

Anyway the beef bowl cannot be used for claiming the Beyond app. But I believe it’s still worth the try someday!

Located in Rangoon Road, Tie Fun Wan is specialized in rice bowls. I ordered Sweet & Spicy Pork Belly. It was not really spicy, but more on sweet side. The portion is normal, not that big but quite fulfilling. Add an extra $1.5 for the 63° onsen egg!

Specialising in savoury rice and noodle bowls, this wallet-friendly joint along Rangoon Road is one to bring your friends to for a hearty lunch around Farrer Park. The 72-hour slow-cooked Beef Rice Bowl ($14) sports tender, slightly charred beef slices and a wobbly 63° onsen egg on aromatic Japanese rice. Alternatively, have the creamy and generously-portioned Smoked Salmon ($12) bowl – opt to have it with their springy dry la mian!
