Sweet and savoury dishes when done well is always a delight and symphony in your mouth. Tolido has done their candied bacon well with a balance of saltiness and sweetness.

Originally concocted as a time-limited item in commemoration of SG50, the Pandan Pancakes ($14+) enjoyed immense popularity, so much so that it earned a permanent spot on the menu.

Think American-style breakfast meets your favourite local flavours. The secret is in the gula melaka sauce which takes the coconut ice cream and lightly-flavoured pancake to the next level.

Tolidos’ Sea Salt Caramel Latte Ice Blend ($6.50+) manages to hit the spot for me. That combination of sweet, salty, and bitter is both refreshing and satisfying.

There are a few must-try items when you visit Tolido’s Espresso Nook. The much-raved-about Rosti ($18 – $22+) is cooked to perfection with gloriously crisp strands on the outside, and waxy ones on the inside. The sour cream lifts the oiliness of the potatoes, and the accompanying smoked salmon and sausages add a touch of umami, though I daresay the rosti is perfect on its own.

In short, don’t even think of Marche’s after this – there is nothing that comes close to this perfection on a plate.

Went on a sunday morning, had to wait quite awhile (about 30 mins) before i got seated. Got myself a white, vongole pasta and pandan pancakes. The pandan pancake with ice cream was fragrant, soft and the serving was just nice for 1 to finish. Would be back to try the rosti!

This time, we decided to visit Tolido's on a weekday for breakfast and we were glad that there wasn't much of a queue! Would definitely encourage visiting the cafe on a weekday instead to avoid the snaking queue on weekends!

We ordered the rosti with cheesy sausage and the food was served really fast today (<10 min) as well! We liked that the dish was served piping hot and the rosti was really crispy on the outside! The rosti was lightly fried and as a result, the sides were not really burnt/charred. We felt that the rosti was delicious enough on its own although you can pair it with the sour cream served at the side if that's how you prefer to have it. The dish comes with a sunny side up and two sausages with cheese filling; while the sausages were great, you probably want to be careful with the filling as it was really hot.

The dish is priced at $18++, which is pretty reasonable and average for your usual cafe fare.
