Yakizen is where you can find value-for-money lunches during the day and great Izakaya at night! Some of their stand-out dishes include the Salmon Aburi Maki ($26.80) and the Fresh Oyster with ponzu sauce (3pcs for $14.80). We reckon these would make for the perfect dinner when paired with either their Asahi or Sapporo bottles.

Made the trip down specially for this and it didn't disappoint! The crispy chicken katsu is coated with a thin layer of bread crumbs and deep fried. Wrapped in omelette, the garlic fried rice is simple yet delicious. The elements of the dish came together well (though the egg isn't the runny type that we often see). The hefty portion was another plus point!

Heard from the owner that this is one of their popular dishes and I can understand why 🀀

Wouldn't mind a revisit to try some of the other dishes! There's a 1-for-1 burpple deal for selected mains. Get 30% off your burpple subscription with promo code 'JQLP1380' πŸ’Έ

1-for-1 mains at this modern Japanese izakaya ✨

Most of the rice bowls here are served in a cute bento box. Can't go wrong salmon mentaiko topped with ikura!

- Oysters were super fresh, ended up ordering another round cause they were so good.
- The Angelhair pasta was amazing as well, really flavorful with a nice amount of truffle taste. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I would definitely come back again.

I loved the warmth you get when the service crew at a restaurant is friendly and helpful, but I’d still shy away if the food fails to impress. It is a great thing that Yakizen is on Burpplebeyond, otherwise the mains might be slight pricey for the portion. My alacarte order of a set of 6 Japanese skewers was also decent but forgettable.
Don’t get me wrong, the food was no where near bad but faces tough competition with some many options around.

Had a very lovely beef tataki from Yakizen (lovely sear and very tender meat), we were told by the owner that they used the skirt steak (harami) portion from Japan. Great service too (friendly and attentive)!:)
