Generous amount of fillings, though the pastry skin can be flakier. This is one of the better siew baos I’ve had in SG. The only complaint I’ve had is, it’s slightly more on the salty side.

A popular item at Loong Fatt, but that queue too long, so we anyhow got it from 603 hahaha. Okay lah still better than random cream puffs.

• oven baked curry puff: 8.5/10 - an unexpected fav cos there was something about the ✨layers✨of the pastry
• char siew sou: 8/10 - really 1 of the better ones out there, and it’s largely attributed to how freshly baked it was 👅

(sweet, salted, lotus, green tea etc): 7.5/10
Had it when they were warm and crisp :,)

(there was even a slice of egg encompassed within) - managed to catch a pic in natural sunlight, albeit in the car 🤪

I hadn't visited this in a while. I came for Loong Fatt but walao the queue could cause cancer. I love salty tsp. Tsp is one of those foods you grew up liking sweet before switching to a more challenging flavour. Unfortunately the one here, though okay, wasn't savoury enough. I'm sorry, I don't know what went into the yuan yang pastry. I only detected red bean and something sticky.

Really really enjoyed both the fried and oven baked curry puffs as they were all so crisp and not oily!!! The curry puffs also had an authentic spicy curry paste, alongside chunks of meat and even a small piece of hard boiled egg!!! The char siew sou was also so crisp and the char siew was done well 👌. Would totally get this box of goodness again 💯

Tried an assortment of sweet and salty bean paste, green tea and lotus paste for these tsp! The green tea one was reminiscent of the Pokka jasmine green tea and was a lil artificial. My fav was defo the sweet and salty bean paste as eating them one after another really made an amazing afternoon snack :,,,)

I usually just get the tau sar piah but since I have craving for Siew Bao, I decided to give it a try. This is surprisingly good. The fillings are generous, tasty and moist. The pastry skin is crispy and not too thick. I’ll definitely be back for this.

This is my second choice when I didn’t manage to get Loong Fatt Tar Sar Piah. It is thicker but also a little drier than Loong Fatt Tar Sar Piah. Yam and Green Tea are decent, I didn’t quite like the pineapple, peanut and coffee flavors. Just stick to the original salty Tau Sar Piah to be safe.

Choose your flavours here wisely. Tried the green tea tau sar piah and was disappointed to find the matcha taste to be so underwhelming and artificial.

Shall name this the Chinese Onigiri. Surprisingly, I come here not for their tau sar piah, but for this. Flavourful and packs a punch with all that crunchy peanuts. Love how they packed it so conveniently for you to have it on the go. Be sure to be there early to enjoy it straight out of the kitchen.

The price was reasonable and the rice was perfect! It was stuffed with a lot of veggies and made me quite full. The egg tarts were fluffy and delicious!

Preferred the water chestnut pastry and Glutinous Rice parcel.
_
Commonly found only Cantonese Pastry shop and Dim Sum Restaurants, the Water Chestnut Pastry has a sweet, sticky filling made from the water chestnuts.
_
The savoury Glutinous Rice with the Umami dried shrimps and shiitake mushrooms is a welcome treat as contrast with the sweet water chestnut pastry.
_
Though table is provided for eating in, no plates nor cutleries are available.

Whenever I drop by Balestier, I don't buy original-flavour tau sar piah, I get the funky flavours. This was really good!
