I was pleasantly surprised to see a single-origin tea at cafe! The taste was very light and slightly sweet at first, but gradually grew more vegetal and umami as it cooled down. Pretty good and a nice change from the usual teas found in cafes!
This canât really compare to their Power Chendol but I wanted something a bit fruity. The mango is ripe and very sweet (yay!) and the ice is drenched in evaporated milk. A very simple dessert, but nicely done.
I saw this the minute I entered T2 from the mrt and had to buy it. The ice-cream tastes like bubble tea, with a soft, creamy texture. The pearls are soft and chewy and go perfectly with the ice-cream.
This is definitely bubble milk tea in ice cream form! Would recommend to anyone whoâs going to the airport.
The chicken was fairly generous and tender and tasted delicious with the mushroom sauce. The sausage wasnât the best, but it was okay. The mushrooms were tasty and the rosti was... weird. More like fried mashed potatoes with vegetables (to be fair, my idea of a rosti is the Marche kind)
I was drawn to this because of the peppermint, but I didnât taste it at all. It tasted like a rich iced chocolate (which was pretty good), but it wasnât minty. The doughnut was on the hard and dry side.
Portion-wise, this seemed pretty small.
If you like cheese and mentaiko, youâll love this! The cheese has a slightly âsmokyâ taste from the grilling and isnât too hard - which means when you mix everything, you can get cheese and mentaiko on all the noodles. It also comes with an onsen egg, which went well with the other two ingredients.
You can add more noodles for free but I thought that the regular serving was more than enough.
To be honest, I had sticker shock when I saw the price - $8 for hawker food?? But Iâve been craving fish and chips so I took the plunge and paid up.
The fish is tender inside and crispy outside. The not really tartar sauce went well with the fish, though I wish that they put it to the side instead (kinda hard to spread evenly when itâs like that). The sides were pretty good. And the size of it (too much for me to finish) justified the cost.
I thought the brown sugar was only going to be in the jelly but it turns out that they put it in the milk tea! If you like that kind of stuff, I think youâll enjoy this, but I always feel that brown sugar in drinks gives it a bit of a burnt taste for some reason. The jelly, though, was really good and I enjoyed it. They didnât ask me what sugar level I wanted so Iâm not sure what this is but it wasnât too sweet (thankfully).
Got the kamatama udon (basically udon + egg) with matcha noodles ($7.90). The noodles were springy and the egg was just nice. But I couldnât really taste the matcha in the noodles so it felt like I wasted $1 to change it.
The jump kaki tempura ($2) was really, really huge but also had an oily taste. The onions were sweet but I ended up not being able to finish it because the oil made it too heavy.
Someone recommended Quan Xiang Mushroom Mince Meat Noodle (stall 01-80) and since I like Mee Pok, I decided to give it a try.
The noodles are springy and thereâs a lot more ingredients than I expected. Apart from the mushrooms and mince meat (the helping of mince meat was pretty generous too), there were slices of pork, liver (which was nice and tender), and something that tasted like pig skin. Okay, Iâm now a bit doubtful if this is the normal mee pok I ordered but this is what I was given.
I really love this tart ($10.60 after GST)! The base is flaky, with a nice crunch and the almond filling is dense and moist without being too sweet. Pairs well with ice-cream (I got the recommended Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin) and makes for a lovely dessert. Plus it is so pretty - I really like the edible spun sugar topping, which tastes like cotton candy and adds a nice touch to the whole thing.
Couldnât get the Earl Grey or Houjicha doughnut but the chocolate banana was a nice substitute! I was expecting banana cream mixed with chocolate for the filling so getting a chunk of banana with chocolate was a very pleasant surprise! (And so much better than banana cream)
Really liked the texture of the doughnut and the flavours came together very well! Would definitely recommend to Choco-banana fans(:
