Came here with my friend for dinner.
Ordered their Bacon Mac & Cheese ($19). They offer 3 option of Non-Spicy, Mild, Very Spicy. I got the Very Spicy option and when it came the server emphasized the word Very Spicy. The aroma of the dish seemed really spicy which made me really excited. However, I was left disappointed as it did not live up to my expectations. If you were to compare the spiciness from a mala xiang guo it would at most be a 小辣 level. Taste wise it was not bad, tasted like a creamy barbeque sauce. Pasta was Al dente and there were a few pieces of bacon.
We also got their Churros ($12) 6 pieces which came coated with 5 spice sugar and chocolate sauce at the side. Honestly I didn't enjoy the 5 spice sugar coating, as it kind of reminds me of fried chicken cutlet. Would have prefer just cinnamon sugar coating.
Would I be back? I don't think so as I did wait quite some time at the entrance before I was let in.
Signature All-In Combo consist of Mee Hoon Kway, Minced Pork, Sliced Pork, Pork Ball and Shrimp Ball.
I had the soup version. Soup is very interesting. Different from any other mee hoon kway shop. It had a smoky flavour which is really nice. Noodles on the other hand was so-so. It lack the chewiness which I prefer.
Minced meat was ok. Sliced pork was tender. Pork ball had a very porky taste which I didn't really like. Shrimp ball had a good springy texture.
Their chilli was not bad as well. They don't offer the usual chilli padi with soy sauce but offer a chilli that's on the acidic side which is quite nice.
Overall nice soup but average noodles.
Came here with my friend for dinner.
Prawn Omelette ($8.80). Egg and prawns. Omelette was not bad. Edges were crispy but could use more flavour.
Sweet and Sour Chicken Rice ($8.80). Taste similar to what you get from a Zi Char stall. Not bad, however the rice was quite hard.
Basil Chicken Rice ($8.80). Basil chicken seemed to lack the taste of fish sauce and is quite different from what is served at other places so I didn't really like it. Rice again, quite hard.
Kailan with Oyster Sauce ($8.80). Kailan was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My favourite dish out of all that we tried.
Vegetable Glass Noodle Soup ($8.80). Super disappointed with this soup. My friend can't take spicy so this was the only soup without the chilli icon next to it, hence we ordered this soup. We ordered GLASS NOODLE soup but what arrived at our table was Vegetable Tom Yum Soup. Told the waiter and they told us the soup is the same base and that they'll just add the glass noodle. So fine, we said ok. When the soup came back my friend said it seemed like they added more red chilli to it. So I place them into my bowl since I'm good with heat. However even then when my friend drank a sip, it was too spicy for her. This was even after the waitress who took out order also keyed in less spicy for the soup...
Overall some hits and lots of misses. Won't be back...
Came here for lunch.
Beef Tom Yum ($15.90). Creamy Tom yum sauce, chili padi, beef Striploin slices. Tom yum sauce was not bad, acidic with a slight heat. Not too spicy. Striploin slices were quite tough.
Salmon Fillet ($18.90). Fillet of salmon, sauteed mushroom, potato truffle mash, poached egg, hollandaise sauce, Cajun spices. Well cooked salmon. Potato truffle mash was good. Could taste and smell the truffle. Poached egg was perfectly cooked with a flow-y yolk.
Salted Caramel Cake ($7.90). A cake layered with salted caramel, cream and sponge cake. Not too bad, taste good. Not too sweet but I wished it was saltier.
Overall food was not too bad. If you're planning to eat here, do make a reservation.
Came here with my friend for dinner.
I ordered the Hericium Basil Sesame Oil Claypot Rice ($14.90). Taste really flavourful and the sesame oil and basil made it fragrant. I love the Hericium mushroom, it has a sort of string-like texture just like meat. There's also Chinese sausage which was not too bad. Chestnut were ok. Broccoli was nice and crunchy.
My friend got the Truffle Hericium Aglio Olio ($18.90). The smell of truffle just perfumes the whole dish. It was quite spicy but not as flavourful as the claypot rice. Also my friend found a short hair in her dish...
For dessert we had the Deep Fried Ice Cream ($7.90). The ice cream comes with cubed mango. I like how the batter was crispy.
Overall would recommend the claypot!
Came to try this new bbt that just opened.
Got 2 cups of Nano Bobo Milk Tea and 1 cup of Nano 2 in 1 Milk Tea.
Nano Bobo Milk Tea ($3.90). Oolong Milk Tea with Special NANO Syrup and Amber Pearls. I love their milk tea. It's fragrant, smooth and milky. Really good, not sure if it has something to do with their special syrup. Only fault is that the sugar level for this drink is fixed. Pearls were good, though a little harder then what I'm used to. Nonetheless chewy and yummy.
Nano 2 in 1 Milk Tea ($3.90). Signature Milk Tea with Beancurd and Tea Jelly. Milk tea was equally good but for this I had the option to choose my sugar level. I chose 25% sweetness which was perfect. Jelly were not too bad. However I prefer their pearls.
Service was quite slow and they gave me one less straw. Nonetheless the drink I've tried so far seems promising.
Ordered both Houjicha and Matcha Brown Sugar Mill to try.
Houjicha Brown Sugar Bubble Milk was slightly powdery. The houjicha was prominent with roasted notes of the tea. Brown sugar on the other hand was kind of overwhelmed by the houjicha. Pearls were good. Chewy and sweet
Matcha Brown Sugar Bubble Milk was also slightly powdery. Matcha was very prominent and overpowered the brown sugar. The matcha also tasted milky which is something that I like.
Overall the Matcha was my favourite.
I was expecting a light cheesecake because of the name but what I received was a not so light, slightly dry c̶h̶e̶e̶s̶e̶cake. The taste of cheese was so minimal that if I didn't know it was a cheesecake I would have assume it was a normal cake.
Honestly not worth the price paid for. For the price I might as well go to giant for a whole cheesecake which IMO taste a lot better.
Their white Taiyaki is actually quite good.
Taiyaki was chewy while the custard filing was creamy, vanilla-y, smooth with the right amount of sweetness. The sweet filing paired well with the plain Taiyaki. A nice dessert snack to have.
Came here for lunch and decided to get their dumplings as well.
The skin of the dumpling is a little thick but smooth. Filings were packed with crunchy vegetables but felt that it could do with more seasoning. The sauce of the dumplings were good and acidic enough. Tasted like Lao gan ma with black vinegar.
Overall dumplings were not too bad. However I didn't like how my dumplings were at the counter turning cold. It wasn't a busy day and the staff just rang the bell and stood there without bothering. We were seated in front of the ordering machine and the guy could clearly see us and he clearly knew that we were looking out for our dumplings. Yet he didn't place the dumplings at the table counter, instead it was placed somewhere we couldn't see from where we were seating.
There always seems to be a queue for this stall so I decided to try.
I got their smallest potion which is $4. It's a good portion, packed with lots of ingredients; eggs, sausages, fish cake, cockles, beansprouts, pork lard and chives.
The CKT is on the sweeter side and could be saltier. It's also not that spicy even though I requested for it to be spicier. I do like how their pork lard are quite big and crispy which added extra crunch to the dish along with the beansprouts. The cockles were good and cooked perfectly. However I felt that it could use more eggs.
Overall a good plate of CKT with good portion. If I do patronise the stall again I might opt for extra egg (+$0.50) and cockles (+$2) if my wallet allows.
So this Wanton Mee comes with char siew, vegetable, 2 fried wanton(dumplings), soup and 2 boiled wanton.
The noodles were ok. They weren't overcooked and had taste. There were also deep fried pork lard in the noodles. Char siew was sweet and tasty and paired well with the noodles. But it was a little dry. Vegetables on the other hand had a weird chemical taste? So I didn't finish them. Fried wanton was good. Crispy and good. Soup was quite bland but the boiled wanton was really good. The filings of the boiled wanton tasted like there was sole fish in it which gave an umaminess to it.
Overall yes to wanton, no to noodles.
