My favorite would be the scone, not too dense and was very fragrant! Wished we had clotted cream and jam the English wayšŸ˜›. The banana bread was a little sweet and denser, so definitely good to share, while the Morning bun was fluffy, flaky, buttery, with a hint of cinnamon.

With a cup of coffee, this plate of three pastries set us back by about $19. Pretty pricey but I’ll definitely be back for the occasional splurge and try their sandwiches!

Hands down the best almond croissant we’ve ever had!!!! (And we are HUGE croissant fans)

Lovely melt in the mouth pork. You can taste the quality meat and the onsen egg added a wonderful silky taste to the dish!

Gotcha ! matcha-liCious !

These days I am matcha-crazy.
Anything matcha and my red alert 🚨 sirens !

I’d usually not go for fads and queues .
But being strategically at suntec today and that there was NO QUEUE 😱. It had to be my day !

The matcha red bean pancake was good. Crisp at the edges and sufficiently soft when eaten fresh .
Mine came right off the hot pan. I appreciate the creaminess of the red beans and that they are not too sweet at all.( the red bean fillings of the pancakes at the Taka basement supermarket is way too sweet ). The red beans are sourced from Taiwan’s pin tung - one of the best places you can possibly source red beans because of the fertile soil and desirable climate. I would have loved for the matcha pancakes to have a little more matcha- Omph given the price . But in general - still acceptable .

I paired it with a soy matcha latte and really enjoyed the creaminess of the matcha latte and how it was not too sweet at all .

6.90 for a set of pancake and drink is not extremely cheap but since these hail from Hokkaido - I Guess the once in a while indulgence is ok.

What’s more YOLO ! 😁

My dining partner’s choice of the ā€œPescado Veracruzā€, a classic fish dish of seabass prepared with tomatoes, green olives, capsicum and capers, was basically free. This is because I had ordered the more expensive ā€œAngus Ribeye Fajitaā€ ($38++) and since I can enjoy 1-for-1 for the mains at ā€œLa Salsaā€ with Burpple Beyond, I did not have to pay for the lower-priced of the two.
I must say, the presentation of the fish was quite dramatic with the boneless piece of seabass laid in the curve of a giant flaky cracker. It turned out to be a pretty filling dish as there’s Mexican rice and refried beans served together. Flavours were bold, bright and tasty.

No lacking in Wok Hei, it also had an alluring consistency and taste from the egg mixed in.
Their herbal prawn soup was another of our must-order item. Just perfect for the cool weather, both the soup and big juicy fresh prawns were so satisfying not a drop would be spared.
Not only were they good for their coffee ribs kinda dish, their prawn rolls were also one of the benchmarks with big crunchy chestnuts in almost every bite.
We just love coming back to KEK, much also to recommend it to everyone else.

I rate this as one of the best fried hokkien mee i’ve tried in Singapore so far. The noodles are so flavourful with a strong wok hei taste & the sambal chilli is so good that the whole dish is elevated to ā€˜must try’ category!

This Baja Fish from the revamped @ElMeroMeroSG at Chijmes is a delight to have. The tempura toothfish is served along with pico de gallo and pickled shallots, chipotle mayo sauce and freshly made flour tortilla. My favourite element has to be the chipotle mayo, saucy!

Bathed in a soupy tangy vinegar sauce, I gave the ultra smooth noodles a good toss to coat every strand. What sets this stall apart from the rest is their soup. What is alluring about their soup is the umami flavour thickened with their ba chor, and egg. Pairing it with the al dente noodles which were firm to the bite, each slurp was robust and multidimensional. ☺

The Egg Mayo Sandwiches at Micro Bakery & Kitchen are all pre-prepared for the day, so if there aren’t any left on the trays next to the cashier, you’re out of luck for the day.

Our order for this was actually forgotten till we reminded them, but they served it promptly after. A thick, creamy egg mayonnaise spread is laid atop a bed of baby spinach leaves in sourdough ciabatta bread. It’s hard to cut with a knife, so I’d just recommend picking the whole sandwich up and eating it with your hands. It still tends to be quite a messy affair as the flour from the ciabatta ends up everywhere, and the egg mayo starts falling out. Despite the messiness, I love how pillowy soft the ciabatta bread is. The slight tang of the sourdough goes really well with the creamy egg mayo that’s a perfect consistency. The egg chunks are quite large, which I appreciated for more bite and texture. The egg to mayo ratio was just right as well, and I really liked this sandwich.

Note that the sandwich isn’t heated up before it’s served, though I think it might be slightly better if it was. Still a great sandwich overall, I really enjoyed it, plus it turned out to be my dad’s favourite. This is also a good choice if you want something lighter than the grilled cheese.

File this away for when you're on the hunt for impressive whole cakes (best to order 4 days in advance). Try their popular Kueh Salat ($5.30 per slice, $72 for whole cake), or be wowed by their version of the strawberry spongecake, Summer Berry ($80 for whole cake) featuring four, fine feathery vanilla sponges doused in fresh cream and berries. Otherwise, indulge in the super addictive Dark Chocolate Olive Oil Cake ($60 for whole cake) or their experimental Guinness Chocolate Cake ($7.80 per slice) that proved to be a delicious success!
