We are back at Go Noodle House for their signature mi xian noodles in soup mixed with huadiao wine! The soup was great as usual and we downed it all, since the huadiao wine gave the soup a sweet aroma and gave the soup a very distinct flavour that we like.

Instead of going for the regular meatballs, we decided to go for the bursting Balls today, which are very similar to Fuzhou fishballs as they contain minced meat with a pork-based broth encased within. Do be careful when eating the bursting balls as the broth within may be pretty hot. 😨

Would be back next time to try their dry pan mee!

White Feathers is a diner hidden away in Goldhill Centre, hence a short walk would be needed to get there from Velocity. As we visited for lunch on a weekday, there were various lunch sets available! Most of them were fusion dishes (e.g. mentaiko pasta) but we decided to get something local - the curry kway teow! Note that this was also the cheapest item on the lunch menu, at around $9++

The dish was surprisingly good as the curry was flavourful but not too concentrated, hence the broth was drinkable to some extent! The kway teow was served alongside braised chicken and char siew that was really yummy (and fatty) too! It was quite a steal for the price.

The eatery wasn't very crowded and there wasn't much of a lunch crowd, but this means it's quite a decent place if you wanna sit down and have a conversation over lunch!

Tried the bubble tea the previous time we visited Isshin Machi, and we decided to go for another beverage this time round - the winter melon tea! The tea definitely tasted like winter melon tea but we are not sure how the black sugar came into play... It costs around $3.50 and is a pretty decent and unique beverage for that price!

We are back at Isshin Machi for their Taiwanese fare and today, we decided to try out the guan Miao noodles in beef broth that was served alongside a decent serving of pork chop! The beef broth was just delightful as you could definitely taste the beef flavour, but there was also a unique herbal taste in the soup! The flavour of the soup was also not too gamey, so it made for a comforting dinner in the evening. Note that this dish doesn come with beef slices in the soup, as you will need to order the braised beef noodles for that.

We changed our noodles to the guan miao noodles, which resembled the ban mian in Singapore although we felt that the guan miao noodles were softer and slightly more springy. πŸ˜‹ The pork chop was great as usual as it was grilled and crisp on the outside, and we think it was marinated very well! Thankfully, the meat wasn't too tough too. Definitely worth a try if you like both the pork chop and beef soup!

Isshin Machi was still really crowded on a weekday evening and because they don't take reservations, you have to be prepared to queue for a table. Go earlier in the evening if possible. 😁

Hai Nan Xing Zhou Beef Noodles is definitely one of the stars of Kim Keat Palm Hawker Centre and many websites would recommend this as a must-try if you dine here. We were bigger fans of the dry beef noodles and hence, we decided to order the dry version, which costs only $5 if you want only beef slices. The prices will be slightly higher if you want to add other items, such as beef balls or tendons.

We felt that the most unique feature of the beef noodles here would be the gravy, which is generally sweet but has a slightly salty taste to it. Perhaps the broth was prepared with a little bit of ε’Έθœ? Squeeze some of the lime to add a slight sourish tinge to the broth and it's definitely going to be one of the most distinct bowls of beef noodles you ever had. Beef slices were generous and they were cooked nicely, as they were not overly tough to chew.

We visited the hawker centre on a weekday afternoon and were decently pleased to find that there wasn't a queue at the stall.

We were checking out the famous stalls during our first visit to Kim Keat Palm Hawker Centre, and Old Long House popiah came out as a must-try stall! We ordered two popiahs from them, one spicy and one non-spicy, as we wanted to try out both flavours. Each popiah costs $1.80 now, which is the standard price across many stalls these days.

We liked that the popiah had some fried crunchy bits in them - this probably sets it apart from many other popiah sold elsewhere in Singapore. In addition, the turnip was fairly dry, which means that the skin will not be soggy and your popiah is a lot less likely to disintegrate when you pick it up! We also like the chilli, which added quite a bit of flavour to the popiah. While the chilli isn't that spicy, it may pack a kick to those of you who can't take spicy food. 😨 Do expect a long queue on weekends as each popiah is made to order!

We are back at Three Point Two Gelato House and like in our previous visit, we were suckers for the pistachio ice cream. The ice cream had a pretty intense pistachio flavour and it came across as more nutty rather than sweet! We tried the waffle this time as well, and we loved it because it was crispy on the outside, yet fluffy/airy on the inside. This means that you won't get full from the waffle easily, which was a great thing for a post-dinner meal. πŸ˜‹ The waffle was served alongside honey (in a separate vial) and chocolate drizzle (along the sides of the plate), so you can mix them in if you like. In total, we paid around $10 for both the ice cream and the waffle.

Three Point Two was really crowded on a Friday evening as they are an eatery in the Outram area that opens until pretty late. Hence, you might need to queue for a table if you visit after 10 pm.

As our Burpple voucher also offered a one-for-one discount on iced coolers, we decided to order two iced coolers ($5++ each) to try. For our first, we ordered the butterfly pea flower iced cooler. While we certainly expected a purplish/bluish hue, we didn't expect the drink to taste sweet because our impression was that the butterfly pea flower tasted slightly floral, albeit almost tasteless. We are guessing that honey might have been mixed into it but we are not able to tell!

The drink wasn't very impressive and we wouldn't recommend it unless you have a Burpple Beyond voucher to spare.

For our other pizza, we ordered the truffle mushroom pizza, which is a cheese-based pizza that comes with a pretty decent amount of mushrooms and a really generous serving of truffle oil. Nonetheless, while the pizza was pretty fragrant, we were slightly disappointed that the egg was overcooked because we expected the yolk to be runny, yet it was more like a hard-boiled egg. πŸ˜‘

The pizza costs $24++ but you get to enjoy a one-for-one discount if you use a Burpple voucher!

We were at Assembly Ground @ Cineleisure to use a Burpple deal today. We decided to order 2 pizzas as they sounded pretty interesting. The first was the laksa pizza, which was a pizza imbued with laksa sauce, and was complete with ingredients such as quail eggs, prawns, squids, fishcakes and laksa leaves. Seems like the only ingredient from your usual laksa dish that is missing would be the 粗米粉 πŸ˜‚

The pizza wasnt spicy at all although we felt that the laksa sauce could be a little more flavourful to bring out the laksa element more. Nonetheless, we loved the thin-crust pizzas, as they were crisp and wouldn't make you full. The pizza costs $25++ but you get a one-for-one discount if you use a Burpple voucher.

We were at the restaurant soon after it opened on a Saturday morning and there wasn't much of a crowd then, but the restaurant was full once it came close to 12 noon. Hence, you have to be prepared to queue for a table as the restaurant doesn take reservations.

While they were generous with the mushrooms, the risotto tasted a tad too uncooked to our liking. Suggest to give this a miss!

We ended off our meal with the Hpa Luda, which was a dessert/drink that was highly recommended by Inle. The drink was basically an upmarket bandung drink, complete with sago, chendol, chin chou, atap-chi and a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Beware though, as the drink was extraordinarily sweet and you may want to share the drink with someone else, as the serving size was fairly generous too. We felt that the drink might have been a little pricey ($7++), although we were pleased to find out that Inle was rather generous with their toppings in the drink.

Inle was fairly empty at lunchtime on a weekday, which may not be too surprising since Burmese cuisine is somewhat exotic to Singaporeans here. Nonetheless, our food still took 20 minutes to arrive, which we would consider to be quite long given that the restaurant was nowhere near full.
