I half expected the rice in the middle of the mini pot to be tasteless, so it was a pleasant surprise to find black sauce mixed in so thoroughly. The layer of salted egg and juices from the steamed pork patty added a nice savory touch amidst the sweetness, though the pork party was slightly tough.
This stall serves many other types of claypot rice, steamed rice and stewed soups. It's one of my to-go stalls for lunch these days! The super friendly Aunty would love to share with you the health benefits of each soup and give you recommendations according to your preference!
π εΉΏδΈ Claypot Rice Steamed Rice Stewed Soup - Kebun Baru Market & Food Centre #01-29
I've never had or even seen anything quite like this before. It's basically pork slices in drunken gravy topped with a fried egg. The drunken gravy reminded us slightly of the familiar drunken prawns but very much sweeter and less herbal-like. I prefer savoury dishes for such meals so this wasn't really my thing. If it's yours, get an extra bowl of white rice for 50 cents and you're all set! The portion feels pricey amongst the other more affordable options here.

Quite an average bowl that's more on the plain and lighter tasting end but I sure did enjoy the tender pork and liver slices. Their noodles are a lot better!
π Teck Kee Cooked Food - Kebun Baru Market & Food Centre #01-23
This is especially so for this Claypot Sausage Bacon Pork Rib Rice ($5)! Pork Ribs so soft that it melts almost instantly mixed with a salty tinge from the lupcheong & wok hei-filled rice π

A hidden JEM located at 226H Kebun Baru Food Centre, this dish is to die for!!
Pork broth: When you first sip the soup, the subtle taste of Chinese wine (hence drunken) stewed with pork broth really overwhelms your taste buds! IT IS REALLY GOOD! The best part is, you don't feel thirsty at all even after finishing the whole bowl, which you will!
Pork slices: There are small chunks of pork slices which you find oddly satisfying especially when it is paired with the delicious broth!
Egg: It taste really good after being soaked in the broth!
Price: $5
Personal grade: A+!!

While rice been cooked in the Claypot, the heat forced the fatty Chinese bacon to drip its fat onto the rice. The ribs were soft and well season. Pretty good place for comfort food. Do give their stewed soup a try. .

WILL WE RETURN? Yes!
Ever since the cafehopping scene has hit upon us, these hawkers have lost some of their shine in the spotlight. When they retire for good and there's no one to pass the recipes down to, it would be such a pity if we have not even tried their food once. I believed that if we do our bit, we can slowly but surely bring back the glory days of hawker food. Preserve the heritage, carry on the legacy.

[Kebun Baru Food Centre] Prepare to queue for at least 15 minutes for this. Recommended by my colleagues to try their dry version, the hand-pulled mian fen guo (mee-hoon-kway) is mixed with their homemade chili sauce and fried shallot oil. The usual ingredients in handmade noodles are inside such as ikan billis, minced pork and vegetables. So homely and so easy to eat as you can just use your spoon to scoop up the ingredients, without the need for using chopsticks. Pictured is the $4 portion. This beef noodle is heard to be one of its kind in SG! Unlike the usual soup or dry kind, this was spammed with super thick gravy! Super shiok for a cloudy day like today! βοΈ
Ordered dry beef noodles @ $3.50. Love their thick sauce, slightly sweet but not overbearing! Perfect for a rainy day!
