Decent porridge but would prefer them not to pour the soy sauce into the porridge.
They also serve deep fried wantons for $8 which I find it’s quite pricey.
Ah Chiang’s Porridge might be tucked at one corner and seemed to be moving kind of slowly here, but it was also at such a relaxed pace to feel the weekend vibes.
The Minced Meat Porridge (S$4.50) was, indeed, simple. Though it might not be easy to notice traces of the minced meat, I was still drawn to the smoothness of the congee and its light flavours. For more variety to the meal, one could simply order some vegetables or fried tofu to supplement the congee.
This place serves Cantonese style porridge which meant it was cooked to an absolute smoothness without any signs of boiled rice grains. Our bowl of porridge came piping hot with a smooth texture. It was rather bland to our taste buds so we added some soy sauce and pepper to suit our taste. The raw fish (salmon) was thinly sliced with not much taste other than sesame oil. I was hoping that it could be a little spicier for some kick. The price is slightly on the high side considering their serving is smaller than other places that serve congee. Overall not too bad for cold, chilly weather over a warm, healthy and hearty meal.

This restaurant has seen their haydays. Ever since new management, this lady is of the rudest you can find in the restaurant.
Porridge is no longer good. Taste that even a dog won’t want to eat. This is how rude the staff can be!
Please patronise this place at your own risk. I’ve banned this establishment for good! Please help spread the word, a place not even worth a dime to be dining in here!
Century egg with pork slices porridge @ $5.50
Youtiao @ $2
Very good porridge that's of superb texture and a lot of ingredients. Simple yet tasty and flavourful.
The fried fritters is good too just a little bit stale.
Will be back to try other flavours!
Raw fish 😋:
As good as it looks yum yum
Must order: watercress w pork liver
Pork liver was well cooked not over-cooked. Thought the combi was a lil off at first but it was surprisingly good !
First time i tried - a little salty
Second time - just right!
Both time - the liver was always cooked right! Not too raw/overcooked.
Ginger chicken:
For someone that doesn’t like ginger, I must say that i enjoyed their ginger chicken a lot! Not too sure why but mmm😋
Century egg porridge with cuttlefish:
Add egg! Definitely makes the porridge more flavourful. Remember to remove all the ginger (if u hate ginger) before mixing everything! 😖
IMO: Tasted a little bland but a little soy sauce and pepper boosts the flavour.
Overall, a very simple dish and what I enjoyed is that it is not salty unlike the porridge u find outside. Wont have to drink a lot of water after a meal here 👍🏻
