If ya looking for Peranakan food, easties can check out @babachews ✨ feel that they are quite Low-profile but been around for quite some time☺️ I love their chilli crab tagliatelle 🦀the tempura crab is so cute and crispy!!! With soft tender flesh👅the sauce is slightly spicy but more on the sweet side🌶 goes so well with the onsen egg 🍳👍 it’s a really satisfying bowl of pasta✨ I also tried their signature and my first ayam buah keluak 🐓 which is a traditional Peranakan dish - hm not gonna comment much as I’m not an expert - but it’s more on the bitter with a bit of burn taste haha! Definitely for savory ppl 👍 do check them out! They are on @grabfoodsg and @oddleeats - can order direct from their website too 🚚

It’s fusion Peranakan food is ok...... very nice atmosphere for wine chilling though

Burnt Cheesecake with an Asian Twist

Made with fragrant Mao Shan Wang durian puree and cream cheese

The durian burnt cheesecake is really thick and creamy

I could taste strong MSW durian flavour and the creaminess from the cream cheese

And the addition of strawberries managed to tone down the rich creaminess from the durian burnt cheesecake
.

This is a Must Try dish as the spiciness of this dish is not overpowering and you could taste the spice of the curry. The curry consistency is good as is not too watery or too thick. I personally love the cook of this dish very much.

Beef short ribs was good, very tender and lots of flavour, though on the salty side.

The char siew rice bowl was abit tough and dry despite the positive reviews on it here.

The youtiao was crisp and not oily, and stuffed with otah that was bouncy and tasty. I liked this a lot! The contrasting textures and good balance of flavours were great :)

The chap chye was highly favoured by my boyfriend, as the ingredients had absorbed all the flavour. I enjoyed it too, but I would have preferred if they gave some gravy or ‘zhup’. Still a good dish tho!

The Ayam buah keluak was decent, as the chicken was tender. However, we found it a little salty, and would have liked for more pronounced buah keluak flavour. Also, the achar served with the rice was really nice!
