The tender beef slices are coated with a drizzle of sauce, just enough to bring out the flavor of the meat, and the wobbly Ibsen egg on top seals the deal with its runny goodness ๐Ÿคค this was a hosted tasting, thanks @burpple for the invite! #burpple

tenderness and medium rare is really on point but you get that nice smoky slight char on the exterior too. fold in the onsen egg and everything comes together; texture, and taste. this is #burpproved for me. a @burpple invite.

At a whooping $68, Barashi Teiโ€™s Special Chirashi Don was certainly indulgent (butย of course, being the most expensive item on their menu). So expect a bigger and better medley of fresh premium fish slices from their other variations of chirashi don. And good to share for two; adoring the great bowl of raw goodness we had Sake Belly, Hamachi,ย Maguro Akami, melty Uni, popping Ikura and sweet Hotate, just to name a few. All proportionately sliced, the substantial bowl was also kept light with a hint of zest andย accentuated with wasabi and pickled ginger at the side. Each comes as a set with a side of fruit and miso soup to go along too. Thus you know where to be forย late night chirashi cravings!

Thank you Burpple for the invite and @barashitei for feeding us!

One of the newest items on the menu at @barashitei was the Unagi Salmon Mentai Maki ($14.80). Loved the flavour of the mentaiko sauce that was slathered over slices of aburi salmon, but we felt that the unagi was lost amidst all the activity that was going on within the maki. It's tough to live up to the old favorite, Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), which had an addictive spicy sauce and a textural contrast from the tempura ebi within it. This was a tasting hosted by @barashitei. Thanks @burpple for the invite! #burpple #burppletastemaker

Go for the mixed skewer platter with 8 sticks and you'll be treated to an ample serving of everything ๐Ÿ˜‹
Kushi Mori at S$18.80

If you've not been here before, Barashi Tei is located conveniently just a stone throw away from PoMo, and they open till late!

Some of the new items on their menu that we managed to try were the Foie Gras Sushi ($15.80 for 2), Wagyu Beef Don ($38.80), Kushi Mori ($18.80 for 8 Skewers), Ikura Chawanmushi ($6.80) and the Uni Chawanmushi ($9.80). Some of the old hot favourites includes the Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), Agedashi Tofu ($7.80) and Moriawase ($28). For those who prefer heavier tasting dishes, the Foie Gras Sushi will definitely be something to try! A generous slice of foie gras is being grilled then slathered in teriyaki glaze before being placed atop sushi rice.
Alternatively, if you're looking for just plain ol' sashimi, order the Moriawase, which consists of 12 pieces of fresh, thick and succulent pieces of assorted sashimi.

Spicy Salmon Maki - $14.80
Unagi Salmon Mentai Maki - $14.80

Original Chawanmushi - $4.80

Aburi Sake Sushi - $9.80 for two
This is taken during a tasting.

The sashimi was fresh, soft and chewy, and the bowl was a hearty portion. My main let-down was the poor service of the staff who had bad attitude, mostly ignored us and even asked us to pass her rubbish of previous customers. Hopefully, we just got unlucky with the service as beyond that, the restaurant had a comfy ambience that makes it a good place to hang out with friends
โš ๏ธ Open till 4am, it's a unique, good option for supper. Their lunch sets are also very value-for-money at under $10

Foie Gras Sushi [$15.80].
Moriawase Sashimi set [$28].
Unagi Avocado Maki [$14.80].
Uni Chawanmushi [$9.80].
Also appreciate them for operating till late to cater to my late night Japanese food cravings.

Craving for Japanese food at midnight but don't wish to hurt your pocket? Look no further than Barashi Tei that serves traditional Japanese food till 2am. My picks are the Moriawase (12-piece mixed sashimi platter), Spicy Salmon Maki, Ikura Chawanmushi, and Gindara Nabe (Codfish Soup โ€“ not in picture). What also stood out for my dining companions were the Foie Gras Sushi (not featured) and Wagyu Beef Don! #Burpproved #BurppleSGLateNight

๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ™ Must try dishes here are the Foie Gras Sushi, Wagyu Beef Don, Chirashi Don, and Spicy Salmon Maki (not in the picture โ˜น). Will definitely be back for more. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Thank you @zanthrea for tagging me along. ๐Ÿ˜

A whole huge and thick slab of foie gras over sushi rice is pure satisfaction โ€” the foie gras is glazed with a sweet sauce on the outside, creamy and smooth on the inside which melts perfectly in your mouth.

For something heavier & insanely sinful, but oh-so-good, please let me indulge you in this mouthwatering & creamy foie gras sushi from Barashi-Tei.

As you can see, the thick generous slices are grilled; then slathered with teriyaki sauce and placed atop sushi rice. This is sushi party in your mouth, for sure.
