More Reviews of good food at Pak Mandor & Family

Runned by a mother and daughter, Pak Mandir is a mecca for excellent and affordable nasi lemak in the Yishun area.

There was a really long queue at Pak Mandor even on an early Sunday morning and some of the ingredients like the (legendary) begedil were sold out.

That said, the key to a good nasi lemak is the rice and Pak Mandor's version aced it. Ignoring the artificial looking bright green colour, the coconut and pandan infused rice was soft, fluffy, aromatic and savoury. It's one of the best I have had and all I need is the spicy and savoury samba chilli to go with it and the really really awesome ikan bills which they refuse to sell on its own but was shattering crisp and tasty!

You’re not a Yishun kia if you haven’t try this yet. Ultimate hidden find. Secret is in the rice!
Their chicken wing is soso nia though.

At Pak Mandor Nasi Lemak, you can pick your favorite ingredients ala carte but I simply pointed to the photo on the signboard and told the kak kak that I wanted the same combination which consisted of coconut rice, a fried chicken wing, a fried kuning fish, an omelette and the usual condiments like peanuts, ikan bilis, cucumber and sambal chili.

I thought a combo like this with both fried fish and fried chicken would have cost at least $4 but no, all these cost just a mere $3!

Feature Pak Mandor Nasi Lemak.
The fragrant coconut rice, with crispy chicken and sausage.
Prefer the sambal chilli more spicy though.

The rice is very fragrant. The chilli is sweet and spicy, very well mixed and goes well with the rice and side dishes. one of the better nasi lemaks around cooked by kakak. go early to avoid disappointment! I went about 12pm on a Saturday and it was almost sold out!

Fragrant nasi lemak rice with a wonderful coconut aftertaste lingering. Coupled with the sambal chilli and dried anchovies, I think I could just have the rice on its own! One of the best nasi lemak I have had!

The sides of chicken wing and fish cake make a good combination but the rice really steals the show :))

Just look at that plate of fluffy nasi lemak that rocks an appealing shade of green. Each mouthful carries a beautiful fragrance of coconut and pandan.

Love the crispy chicken wing. Tasted really different from other Nasi Lemak stalls.

Located in Block 645 Yishun Street 61, #01-320, this stall is run by Pak Mandor And Family.

The pandan flavoured nasi is fragrant, the ikan bilis crisp but not oily, the sambal has a nice zing, and the chicken wing is shiok!

Egg and fish cake a little meh... overall quite decent though!

Will try to track down more in Yishun when I return from Vietnam!
