Take your dog for a walk in Botanic Gardens and pop by this quaint restaurant beside Nassim Gate. There's loads of sunshine and space in the al fresco area, as well as water bowls (upon request) for the pups! For a foolproof brunch, enjoy the Classic Set ($22) with eggs, chicken sausage, crispy bacon, grilled tomato, hash brown, kale, country bread and a drink. For local flavours, get their creamy Curry Chicken with Rice ($15). On sides, share the fragrant Truffle Parmesan Fries ($10) served hot and buried under a heap of grated cheese.

The curry gravy was thick, rich and full of flavor. Spicy too. Really good with the rice. I drank it all. I was happy to see chicken drumstick in my curry. Good stuff.

thank you @nparksbuzz for hosting us!

The fries were freshly fried and super hot! The truffle smell was faint but got an abundance of Parmesan cheese. These were extremely enjoyable on a cloudy afternoon. I was full from the chicken sandwich but I couldn’t stop myself from popping fry after fry into my mouth.

I liked the chewy texture of the bread. Chicken thigh was tender. This sandwich was quite nice. If the sauce was not so ketchupy, it would have been great. I gave some extra points for mayo.

This was a beef burger topped with mushrooms and a slice of cheese. Nothing special abt this burger. I requested for well done. Burger patty was juicy but strangely hard. Texture was no good. Mushrooms were bland. The cheese was not even melted properly. A very unimpressive burger. Too expensive for the lack of quality. Fries were nothing to shout abt. On the lukewarm side.

This pizza had black truffles, mushroom medley and fontina. The crust was thin and crispy. Nothing beats hot pizza fresh out of the oven. I loved the strong truffle aroma. They ran out of forks, so I had to use my hands. The mushrooms were so juicy that each bite yielded droplets of mushroom essence. I rolled up each slice to save as much juice as I could. But I still got mini rivers dripping down my chin. Never eat this on a first date.

The signboard menu above the ordering/payment counter stated “Aglio e Olio (add seafood 8), which hubby interpreted as they add 8 pcs of seafood in this pasta dish. What it actually meant was seafood could be added at an additional $8. I knew sthg was wrong when he merrily presented me with the receipt and announced that he got Seafood Aglio Olio for me at just $15.

Of cos, what came was just plain Aglio Olio with sliced chili and loads of garlic. Taste wise, i could not complain. Perfectly seasoned and so al dente. It was a great pasta dish. I took some prawns from my laksa and instantly this became Seafood Aglio Olio.

This was not a cheap cup of coffee ($4) but the aroma was unbeatable. Smelled way better than some chain coffees. It was quite bitter cos the coffee taste was very strong. Not acidic, which really appealed to me. I don’t like sour coffee.

I also liked the wooden ice cream stick they gave for stirring. Never did fancy the plastic kind that looked like it would leak carcinogens into my coffee. Fabulous to have on a windy afternoon, with slight drizzle, dark clouds and weak thunder.

First dining experience here in botanic gardens. Plenty of options here: western, local. I got a Singaporean fusion dish. Pasta cooked and served with Sweet chili crab sauce. Generous portion of crab: chunks in the sauce and a whole soft shell crab that is deep fried placed on the top of the spaghetti.

Nasi Goreng Kampong ($14.50)

Whilst somewhat plated in a photogenic manner, the taste fell far short. The malay style fried rice was cold and mushy with a tinge of spiciness, the 3 pieces of mid-joint wings tasted rather salty and felt like they came from a bag of frozen processed food (think CP wings) and the menu mentioned “shrimp”, which was definitely nowhere to be found, likewise for the chilli. The achar and the egg were the only little comfort done well. I somehow left thinking that this dish has been heavily tweaked to suit the tourists’ palate and hence doesn’t boast the strong asian flavours typical of malay food. It is rather appalling to me when you breakdown what you are getting on a plate for the price paid.

Ngor Hiang isn't my kind of thing either, but this was not bad lah. Soft on the inside & flavourful. The skin wasn't too oily either.

The highlight of the appetisers we had was definitely the satay, though obviously pricier than what you get at hawker centres ($9 nett for 6 sticks). So dang juicy that you can eat it on its own. Which might be a good thing, because the accompanying peanut sauce on the side is soooo watery 😲

This laid-back trattoria at Singapore Botanic Gardens is the place to grab a pizza while your furry friend gets a bit of sun. The alfresco area at Casa Verde welcomes dogs of all sizes. It's very popular among dog owners and young families, so expect to pick your way through both dogs and toddlers alike. Food-wise, Burppler Carrie Carrie recommends the Laksa ($9.50), which she said is worth every cent she spent. Ask for belacan if you fancy more of kick, like she did. Casa Verde also does excellent pizzas (from $24) — it's hard to go wrong when everything is good! Pro tip: If you want to hang out in the gardens while noshing on good food, consider getting the Picnic Basket ($30), filled with hearty bites including two six-inch pizzas, to take with you out onto the greens. We're sure your pooch would love the extra space.
Avg Price: $25 per person

Only 6 sticks for $9, but they were bigger than the average satay at hawker centers. Very yummy. The only disappointment was the peanut sauce. It was so watery that it couldn't coat the meat well. Not much peanut taste either.

This $9.50 laksa wasn't cheap but it was amazing! I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ the laksa here. Do request for belacan chili cos that really upped the amazement factor. If this wasn't a public place, I would lick the bowl.

Choice between Prawn Noodle Soup or Seafood Char Kway Teow, paired along with Iced Jelly Dessert & Coffee or Soft Drink.
On another note, have yet to try their new pop-up menu featuring Hong Kong's famous Mui Kee Cantonese congee. Die also must find a good afternoon to get back here again.
