Crispy skin ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A nice bowl with yuzu? fragrance. But again it's a really tiny portion

Really tiny bowl, it's alright for one pax but damn pricey

It's good though, clearly you can see the yam paste and the pork lard. The pork lard carries a bit of savoury taste here which was nice, but not for everyone. The Gingko nuts were perfect, and overall it wasn't too sweet.

Had it been more generous in portion for the same price I would have loved it

The small portion only feeds 1-2, you have been warned.

It's got some serious wok hei but nothing much otherwise. Alright as a base for the sauces but very pricey, probably get at least the regular one to share

Pictured is after everyone took a bowl alr, so the original portion is almost full(this was a 800g lobster, a Boston lobster would be 500-600g at this restaurant)

There's a discount of 40%, bringing the price closer to a boston lobster that's why we chose this.

The meat was tight but while it's obviously not hard, it's stiffer than I expected. Also less sweet than I expected for the price, but it's alright

The highlight is the soup, it was thick and full of umami while not being jelat, very easy to drink and comforting stuff. Probably has a ckn base to thicken it? Because the seafood taste wasn't too strong

Usually this would be quite severely overpriced though, at the original price(UP this claypot was 200)

Served with puffed rice and dried shrimps which added to the dish

Here is a roughly 1kg one

It's good, everything barely reach your expectation, nothing was particularly stunning. The garlic taste doesn't rlly seep into the crab, the crab wasn't very sweet, and the sauce which was not bad(again not garlicky enough) was not v generous either.

I would say go ahead and if you know this is something you like, but it's not as mindblowing as people claim

Braising liquid was good, it's thin(exactly like water). The duck was expected to be more tender at a restaurant of this calibre, but the tofu was nice

One shot per person, really nice gesture. I don't see this ofte

So good! Crispy exterior with a gorgeously juicy interior. Still a favourite comfort food!

Orh nee ($4+ per portion), a must-order on every visit to Chui Huay Lim. Smooth and roch without being overly rich. Other must-try dishes include the orh luak and fried kway teow. Classic teochew dining at its most refined. For special gatherings, you can even request for a private room with karaoke set, if you call in to reserve early enough!!

This average sized lobster was fresh and really yummy! They can prepare it in a few ways - steamed with chinese wine, steamed with egg, amongst others.

Generally, my family loves this restaurant because it's homely and reasonably priced! It is a teochew restaurant so if you are a fan of orh nee, be sure to try that out too! (The ngoh hiong and oyster omelette is super yums too)

๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿท & I have an inKLING that u would love this sucKLING pig as much as I do! โค

Who can resist some crispy Roasted Suckling Pig! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ For consistency & best meat texture, Chui Huay Lim only uses piglets that are between 3-4kg. The skin is then roasted to the perfect crisp without being burnt - really requires a lot of skills! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
.
Just look at how thin & crispy the skin is - can you hear the crunch already! ๐Ÿคฉ As some1 who abhors fatty meats, I truly appreciate that it was just a thin layer of fat beneath that pretty golden brown skin, just sufficient to maintain the moisture & juice for a tantalising bite! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ The meat beneath the crispy crackling skin was quite tender as well.
.
While pre-order is required, takeaway option is also available! โœŒ๐Ÿป Perfect for your CNY celebrations!

THE COLD CRAB WAS DELICIOUS! The roe was of an exceptional texture, not the usual dry/powdery kind. It's creamier and has a much lighter "fishy" taste (as some may call it). As it's served cold, it makes a really good &refreshing appetizer. Flesh is sweet and chunky despite the relatively smaller size of the crustacean (as compared to sri lankan mud crabs).

The other dishes like the braised duck &chilled wine prawns equally deserve a double thumbs-up! Every dish feels like they've been carefully prepared. Get chope vouchers to get bang for your buck! #Burpple pls get them on Beyond!

This wok fried โ€˜kway teowโ€™ will first lure you with the nice smoky smell then you canโ€™t help yourself with a second serving! I have to admit that the innocent looking kway teow doesnโ€™t have many ingredients except diced kai lan and preserved radish. It was wok-fried to perfection while kway teow was smooth and moist with alluring smoky flavour to it.
.
Wok fried โ€˜Kway Teowโ€™ with diced โ€˜Kai Lanโ€™ and Preserved Radish is priced from S$18 (small). Medium and large portions are available.

Opened in 2011, Chui Huay Lim is located within the 170-year-old Chui Huay Lim Club, serving authentic Teochew dishes ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Here are some of their signature dishes:

1. Teochew Fried Kway Teow with Diced Kai Lan ๐Ÿฅข

This kway teow looks simple, but the wok hei taste (breath of the wok) is sooo strong & flavour is sooo good. Amazing!

2. Teochew Oyster Omelette โ€˜Gooey styleโ€™ ๐Ÿณ

Plump oysters pan-fried with eggs & tapioca starch. The taste is pretty similar to a regular oyster omelette but the texture is super super soft.

3. โ€˜Tau Suanโ€™ with Gingko Nuts ๐ŸŠ

This Tau Suan looks like a regular Tau Suan, but they added orange peel to it so the taste is very refreshing. Nice! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ“† From now till 30 Nov

Chui Huay Lim will be giving a $10 return voucher for every $100 spent in a single bill ๐Ÿ“ Chui Huay Lim Club
