This is my first time having breakfast in Dong Po Colonial Cafe. Ordered Set F (Bostock & Kopi) plus Chocolate Long Cup. The Kopi is quite strong but very good! Try dipping the long cup into the coffee, makes the taste even better for the kopi and long cup. The Bostock really amazing. Crispy, buttery with the fragrant almond flakes. Get ready to queue especially on Saturday morning.
Almond flakes on buttered toast. Warm, buttery, nutty goodness. Not too sweet and best eaten warm.
If this doesnโt get you out of bed in the morning ... ..... what will ?? ๐

This is the best bostock in Singapore ( not that it can be found widely in the first place ) and it deserves some pretty good attention. I researched and found that the bostock is actually a traditional French recipe ๐
Crisp sliced almonds over a layer of frangipani and on to of a well toasted homemade bread. The bostock is very light and surprisingly not sweet at all so perfect for those of you who have Low tolerance to sweets.
Ordered the bostock (kind of an almond pastry toast) together with traditional teh.

Visiting this retro cafe for an afternoon Kopi/Teh is like taking a time machine back to the past. The interior & laid back vibe along with tasty & good value Kopi set make this place a perfect local joint to catch up with friends.

We ordered set D $5 (Teh and Orange Lamington + chocolate peanut butter brownie) and set F $3.50 (Teh and Bostock: French toast with caramelized frangipani top crust that is made to order). We waited around 5 mins and were very impressed with our choices. We will definitely come back to try Vanilla/chocolate Long cup and 3 hole cookie). Simply having a wonderful time!

For the old school lovers and for thpse who loves to dip their cakes into their coffee or milo. A pity for the coffee wasnt very strong and rich enuff to compliment the cakes.
Chocolate long cupcake (dry sponge cake) is definitely meant for dip in the coffee-relatively dry to have it on its own.
Rum ball really has tint of alcohol in it (and my guess some peaut butter and coconut)
Bostock is a lover - crispy butter toast with butter flakes.
Basically I was attracted by the little crowd (proven all queue in SG is the essence to biz success ๐). Anyway, the Shibuya toast with ice-cream has surprised me, I was wondering why is it so different from the normal thick toast until I looked into the menu again, since it is named Shibuya toast probably they are using japanese bread that is softer and similar to brioche ๐ค, that's how it becomes so silkily crispy after toasting. Although the topped vanilla ice-cream is not the milky type that I like the whip cream is meant to be there to complete the dish by adding on some notes of buttery saltiness, go along with little maple syrup, definitely worth a try with that price.
As for the spinach quiche, I am not a pie person but I was able to finish almost the whole piece by myself as it is overall lighter, unlike the usual quiche often stuffed with too much unnecessary fillings. Less greasy and most importantly it's just out of oven! ๐
