It's such a pity that the cake was a tad dry. I'm not a big fan of old-school buttercream either, especially in this case where it was rather grainy on some parts (either because of dessicated coconut or sugar— I'm not sure). The gula melaka was fragrant as expected, but the dish is nothing mindblowing as a whole. Perhaps it's tailored more towards the our parents' tastebuds as the theme suggests.

A dish that clearly showed the skills and creativity of the restaurant. Elemen's nasi lemak came with fragrant coconut rice, infused with the beautiful indigo hue from butterfly pea flower. I had expected a somewhat doughy texture from the "rendang" but I was pleasantly surprised to find how tender and smooth it was. They also didn't downplay the use of spices and chilli as I found both the rendang sauce and sambal flavourful with kicks. The tofu otah underneath the rice was another lovely touch to the dish. I almost forgot that this whole dish was entirely vegetarian because of how good it was!

A refreshing palate cleanser that needs no more introduction. A deceptive item because it made me feel less full and less guilty even after having 4 courses.

Giving a unique twist to the famous Peranakan dish kueh pie tee, they created a mini bowl from deep crispy, fried popiah skin. The filling was also slightly different from the traditional kueh pie tee. It came with cubes of turnip, carrot, and shiitake mushroom having been stir-fried with soya sauce and garlic. It kinda missed the savoury shrimp taste, but still tasty nonetheless.

I love the balance combination of salty, bitter and sour. Although there was no meat in the soup, it also had a tinge of sweetness from the tomato. The addition of mushroom provided a little earthy note to the soup as duck was missing from the dish.

Unlike the usual Peranakan-style sambal sauce wing beans, the one here came cold in the form of salad. The addition of fried enoki mushroom, fried shallot and fried garlic in the salad offered a lovely contrast in texture and flavour although it remained simple with little seasoning. I could easily finish the whole bowl by myself.

Spicy pickle was yummy and refreshing, offering sweet and sour notes for the tastebuds. Youtiao was coated in tangy rojak sauce with interesting fermented note despite not using fermented shrimp paste here. The youtiao itself managed to remain crunchy while waiting for me to finish taking photos. Tofu and century egg with tahini was awesome. I'm not too sure how this fits into the Peranakan theme, but I love the combination of creamy texture and umami flavour.

The idea was great, but the execution fell short. The mousse dome lacked a smooth texture that you would have expected from a mousse. I liked how the chocolate wasn't too sweet, but I have had better mousse elsewhere.

Very strong truffle aroma and flavour, but something that I unusually like. The whole dish is packed with earthy notes, so mushroom lovers will most likely enjoy this. The porcini was cut into chunks and cooked until tender. It was such an appetising and addictive dish.

The soup is loaded with various ingredients netted fungus, shitake mushroom, red dates and another ingredient which I'm not too sure about. Broth tasted clean, light, and sweet. Le bf doesn't like the "too-healthy" taste, but it's definitely my kind of comfort food.

• 5 Course Set - Appetizer + Mushroom Salad + Braised Bailing Mushroom w Ee Fu Noodle + Chilled Purple Rice Porridge w Coconut Ice Cream + Strawberry Basil Lemonade ($26.80)
Fresh crunchy cucumbers and carrots with crispy tempura bits, rolled in nutty, rice-vinegared purple rice, and topped with glazed teriyaki-esque shitake.
More 🔥 would have been a boon since its name holds that expectation for fiery heat but altogether, it was a perfect blend of flavours and textures in one bite.
Over so often I miss the taste of wholesome vegetarian food so I'm glad I was introduced here! I had the 5 course meal ($23.80+), starting from the elemen Appetiser, Spinach Salad, Edamame Tofu With Black Truffle Wild Rice, Coconut-infused Jelly with Watermelon Sorbet and Lavender Tea. I'd probably just go for the ala carte mains next time and do without the others which weren't all that impressive imo. Really loved the wild rice mix with yam and chickpeas, and the tofu which had an interesting texture (which I really liked) which made it seem more homemade. Also, liked that the waiter took time to walk us through each component of the appetiser and the order to eat them in. Great service and great ambience! 😌
Holding a richly-flavored blend of white truffle oil and sautéed white mushroom, this pizza is topped with shaved cheese and fresh arugula.
Infused with the intense earthy flavours from the mushroom and white truffle oil.
Cherry tomato in sour plum sauce, homemade black sesame tofu and shiitake mushroom with edamame

Smelt really nice of truffle oil. Tangy and refreshing in taste. Can't believe it's vegetarian.
The restaurant was hidden all the way at the end, next to Japan Home. It was packed that nite. No wonder the restaurant preferred one to pre-order food over the phone before coming.
