- Basil Chicken🍗
- Kang Kong with Chilli🥗
- Tang Hoon with Seafood🍜
- Spicy Tom Yum Seafood Soup🥘
- Thai Milk Tea🍵
- Lemongrass Water🥤
Used to remember this place as one of the affordable tze char price Thai Cuisine (pretty authentic), but somehow the standard seemed to drop...
I don’t rmb the dishes are this spicy previously but this round, even myself also almost cannot hold it, finished the dishes, walked out of the restaurant with sausage lips and burning stomach...=X
For ppl who can’t take spicy food, can skip all the above dishes... These dishes just leave one with that spicy burning sensation after eating (more spicy than your McSpicy), you ownself judge if you can bear with it or not (my fren broke into sweats).....enuff emphasis on how spicy this round was but ya okay, food review...
Basil chicken gave a distinct basil taste and a little too oily, great to go with white rice...
Kang Kong is a little too oily, not really fantastic...
The tang hoon, too, a little oily, otherwise, would be great since they are quite generous with their seafood...
Tom Yum Seafood Soup is both sour and spicy, quite shiok to drink this and again, they are quite generous with their ingredients, but, this round is just too spicy already lah...
Thai Milk tea is quite authentic, quite sweet though, as for the lemongrass drink, for some reason, got a hint of barley, not quite sure why...
All in all, for those who wanna challenge themselves in terms of the spiciness, can go try! Or you can try to ask the staff if they can reduce the spiciness not...
Damage: $40 (in total)
Not a fan of pad thai but my parents loved this dish. They said there was a balance in savoury and sweetness, and it was sufficiently wet without being too oily. I felt that the noodles were cooked nicely, coated well with the sauce but retaining a bite.
What made this dish different was that the tempura cereal batter contained hints of coconut, which added an interesting and delectable nuttiness to the dish. Could be less salty though! But definitely worth a try.
Best pandan chicken in Singapore!!! Extremely juicy chicken, packed with spices like lemongrass, galangal and IDK WHAT MAGIC
Decent! Sufficient basil is used so that every bite of pork is packed with the fragrance of the herb, yet not overpowering the entire dish. Very well balanced, which is often not achieved in Thai dishes found in Singapore
I really enjoy clear Tom yum soup, especially the one at first Thai. I feel like good clear Tom yum soup is a paradox, extremely light in taste but very intense in flavour.
Since our previous visit years ago, the taste in their dishes have not changed as far as we could remember. We ordered 3 classic Thai dishes and were not disappointed.
Their Thai prawn vermicelli was flavourful and stood out with those big prawns. We just love it when they used fresh prawns rather than frozen “crystal” prawns.
Green curry was enhanced with spices from which we could still find bits of them in the creamy curry. Only shortfall in it was perhaps that chicken breast was used instead of thigh meat in the curry.
Their Thai basil pork was well-cooked and also evident of the quality of pork used, consistent across their other dishes for quality ingredients.
While the presentation of their dishes might not be the most IG-worthy, the authenticity and taste of their dishes were a winner. Just a note that desserts would only be available during lunch due to manpower and they did not want to compromise on their food.
This is definitely highly recommended if you're a fried fish lover!! It's so crispy that the entire fish was almost gobbled down, leaving only the biggest fish bone. The garlic sauce is a little sour and spicy which compliments well with the fish!
This is definitely my go-to place for authentic Thai food other than Golden Mile. Not too oily, not too salty. Just right! Trust me, the spicy long bean with squid is the BOMB!
Yes, let’s go for yummy Thai cuisine!
🇹🇭
Fried Seafood Tang Hoon ($10) - tasty 👍🏻
Belachan Fried Rice with Chicken Floss ($10) - too sweet, where’s the spice? But love the crispy sweet ikan 👌🏻
Spicy Mango Salad ($9) - yum 👍🏻
Spicy Tom Yum Seafood ($13) - very fresh prawns 👍🏻

Recommend this place for affordable, quick & no fuss Thai food

Have always wanted to try this place since I first stumbled upon it. My Pat Krapao Moo Sap was a hit although the Cha Yen and Pad Thai can be deemed as misses. And prices here are a tad bit steep, imo
The quality of their fried rice itself is quite consistent - tasted just as good when I last came. The rice is very aromatic, and is just the right consistency; not too mushy but not too tough either. Lots of egg and chicken was added plus the portion is quite big so it's quite worth it. I would say go for their seafood because the chicken, while nice, is nothing particular to rave about.
A sinful, eggy mess that is just excellent when paired with rice (look at all the sauce!). I like that the sauce is very thick, with lots of egg added inside. However, some points must be deducted for the slightly burnt aroma (probably from the curry sauce being burnt when fried) and the relatively small portion (for $18!!). To be fair though, this is one of their pricier options and they have cheaper items on the menu. Also, the crab does get a little soggy if you leave it there for too long, but I don't think this will be left alone for too long!
First Thai is one of those places to eat with family or with groups of friends, mainly because it makes sense to order more and share - each dish is amazing albeit in large portions. Been here multiple times, but here we've ordered the olive fried rice, spicy basil minced pork and the seafood tomyum soup. The fried rice was fragrant and tasty (and importantly, it wasn't too oily as with most other fried rice). The meat was slightly salty but was complemented well when eaten with the olive rice. The tomyum soup at First Thai isn't too spicy, with the highlights being the sour, galangal and lemongrass flavours and scents. (Add more Chilli if you prefer). All in all, would rate First Thai 8.5/10, but only because the price can get pretty steep if you over order.
Rather overpriced dishes. Everything on the table + a fried rice was $90… the price I'd pay to dine in an air conditioned restaurant for dinner. But this was a little bit overpriced for lunch. The food was ok. Nothing really stood out enough to give any positive or negative feedback.

Late dinner at the wallet friendly and authentic Thai casual dining along Purvis Street. One of our favorite dishes here is the claypot tang hoon prawn and the spicy Tomyam soup. We think that the dishes at First Thai are much better than Jai Thai next door. I was literally breathing fire after completing the meal.

Everything was good except for the pandan chicken. I mean, it WAS good, just not the way I like.✌🏼 .
