This made me go wow

A perfect candy like char siew style crust, with the fluffiest interior. Even the herbs were used beautifully, the mild celery flavours complementing the sweetness of the pork perfectly

The only problem is that the crunch dissipates quickly, within minutes.

Otherwise must try

The Barramundi was meaty, rice was nice and has depth w the mushrooms adding umami, and there's crispy bits at the bottom

Pretty decent, except the portion is absolutely tiny and doesn't even feed one. Tapas sized for this price, unacceptable

Pan-seared seafood gyoza stuffed with fish, scallops, white onions, cabbage and prawns, best dipped in the sweet and sour sauce.

Location: Kinki Restaurant + Bar, 70 Collyer Quay, #02-02 Customs House, Singapore 049323

Niigata Koshihikari rice mixed with boiled edamame, deep-fried wakame and puffed rice in a claypot, atop with Canadian lobster tail is grilled with spicy mayonnaise sauce. It was then heated on the stove for a deep charred flavour, the claypot is brought to the table and unveiled alongside a teapot filled with a secret Kinki broth.

*Signature* Grilled Squid Chimichurri ($33.00++) Chargrilled Pacific Japanese Squid with homemade Chimichurri sauce

Set lunch at Kinki, this is one of the chef recommended dishes. Particularly enjoyed the rice, food was fresh. Premium due to location, which has a good view of Marina Bay. Discounts are not applicable for set lunch.

Norwegian salmon is lightly marinated with shoyu tsuke, then intermingled with coral lettuce, mizuna leaves, cherry tomatoes, crispy tempura shimeji mushrooms and tempura crumbs, tied together with a hot pepper seaweed sauce. I really enjoyed this! 😋

Fluffy Niigata Koshihikari rice is mixed with shiitake, eringi and enoki mushrooms that have been sautéed in butter, teriyaki and soy sauce, as well as edamame, then added to a claypot for a distinct smokiness and charred rice bits. Moist slow-cooked Kuhlbarra Barramundi is pan-seared upon order and laid over the umami rice in full glory.

Stuffed with fish, scallops, white onions, cabbage and prawns, best dipped in the sweet and sour sauce. Something different from the gyozas served in other restaurants for sure! 😋

Grilled Pork Jowl ($38++): my personal favourite! ❤️ Of a good lean-fat ratio, expect melt-in-the-mouth tenderness, a result of a slow-cook process for 2 hours in chicken stock, mirin, sake, tamari shoyu, red wine, then charcoal grilled 🔥 with a house-blend spicy miso & plum sauce. So indulgent! 🤤

Cheese Lightnin’ ($30++): lightly torched cheddar cheese 🧀 & house-made mustard mayonnaise melting over US Wagyu short plate slices 🐄 sautéed with a beef teriyaki sauce & premium Niigata Koshihikari rice 🍙, topped with crunchy tobiko, one piece just isn't enough!

Lobster Pao Fan ($48++): served ochazuke style 🇯🇵, this features Niigata Koshihikari rice 🍚 mixed with boiled edamame, deep-fried wakame & puffed rice in a claypot. Stealing the limelight is a Canadian lobster tail 🦞 grilled with spicy mayo 🌶. Pour the secret Kinki dashi broth 🥣 over for the perfect comfort food!

A must order! Delightfully warm and rich, an umami bomb! Might be too rich to finish on your own - so share the love :)

One of the six new dishes is the appetizer dish of Salmon Sashimi Salad ($22) with the Norwegian salmon slices lightly marinated with shoyu tsuku before it is constructed with coral lettuce, mizuna leaves, cherry tomatoes, and crispy tempura shimeji mushrooms. The salad comes with a hot pepper seaweed dressing that brings a bit of heat and a zing of freshness. Rounding up the appetizer is the Cheese Lightnin’ ($30), a sushi roll of US wagyu slices that has been sauteed with a beef teriyaki sauce with cheddar cheese and mustard mayonnaise.

From appetizers, we moved on to sides of Grilled Pork Jowl ($38) and Crispy Seafood Gyoza ($23), the former slow cooked in a mixture of marinates before charcoal grilled with spicy miso and plum sauce while the latter is stuffed with a variety of seafood and comes with a sweet and sour sauce. The new mains are rice base such as the Barramundi Claypot ($36) and Lobster Pao Fan ($48), the latter my favourite of the two as it comes with a Canadian lobster tail that has been first grilled with spicy mayonnaise sauce that gives it the surprising kick from each bite, and matched with Niigata Koshihikari rice, edamame, wakeme, puffed rice and a comforting teapot of secret Kinki broth that is packed with umami-ness. This dish is served ochazuke style.

Not to be missed out are the other mainstays in the menu that include the signature Corn Duo ($17) that has been coated in a Sriracha mayonnaise and topped with furikake and Grilled Squid Chimichurri ($33), perhaps the standout dish of the evening as the Pacific Japanese squid is chargrilled to perfection while retaining a nice texture and paired with an Asian-inspired refreshing chimichurri sauce.

This is an upgraded version of the normal california maki. It came dressed with fresh sashimi

There was a subtle sweetness to the cod fish. Well cooked as well

This was the highlight of our dinner. Unagi was of a good portion. rice was soft and charred and had a really good taste to it
