Some say the greens make you feel healthier eating one of Singapore's oiliest dishes, but overall they don't add anything to this version. The kway teow itself... Decent lor.

Haven’t had Pork Pho before nor have I been to Vietnam, but this bowl was super comforting and satisfying! Think there may be quite a bit of msg in there but I didn’t mind slurping the flavourful broth down. The rice noodles were smooth and soaked up the flavour thoroughly. Would have loved the pork slices to be more tender and less dry but it came in a generous portion.

Also got a bite of my friend’s Banh Mih - Co Hai Baguette ($10) and you’d be happy to know they make theirs in-house - we witnessed the whole baking process!

Passed by this shop and decided to try something new. Oh boy I was impressed with the taste of the dish and the service that was given by the staff!

I would definitely return for sure!

We like that HOUSE at Dempsey is close enough to the city, yet feels like it is worlds away from the buzz. Tucked amidst lush greenery, the relaxed ambience and excellent service makes it suitable for a first date. The setting is casually stylish, and this is reflected in the menu which is smart but not at all stuffy. The Burpple community has great things to say about the Elegant Black Pepper Prawn Linguine ($33) — the sauce is tasty, the plump prawns are char-grilled to smoky deliciousness, and it's finished with a sprinkling of salmon caviar. It's a splurge, but well worth the money. For a super satisfying vegetarian main, you must have the Macadamia-Crusted Pumpkin Salad ($18). Alternatively, dig into the sinful Bone Marrow And Steak Burger With Bacon Jam ($29) that will please any meat-lover. If the date is going well, spend a little more and linger over a slice of moist Marilah Onde-Onde! ($8.50), which sees pandan sponge cake layered with pandan-coconut cream and gula Melaka.
Avg Price: $65 per couple

$16.00 w/o GST gives you this delicious plate of Fresh Prawn Alfredo Pasta with six prawns (yes, I counted). Portion is filling for a female with slightly-big appetite. 3.8/5

But I was pleasantly surprised by their crab pasta, served really hot with generous amount of crab claw meat and tossed in a mixture of shallots, chilli padi and shellfish oil.
🍝
While plain looking, the pasta had a very delicious seafood umami flavor, likely due to the use of shellfish oil. Crab claw meat were chunky and fresh. Flavorful without being salty, this is truly one of the better crab pastas out there. Pasta choices include Capellini, Linguine and Spaghettoni.
🍝
For drinks, their Sea Salt Oolong Iced Tea Latte SGD 7+ is worth a try too. It's similar to a bubble tea, except that it has a stronger oolong tea flavor, less sugar and presumably healthier ingredients.

Homemade Squid Ink Spaghetti, Greenland Shrimps, Baby Squid, Fish Crumbs and Calamansi. An umami bomb I would say, right from the squid ink pasta and all the way to the fish crumbs which were twined within — each strand has a good level of savouriness that just adds to the dish's flavour profile for a slight crunchy, garlicky and saltiness similar to fried fish skin. You would probably love this if you are one who can't resist slightly heavier flavours like me!

🌶🦀🍝 MANTOU SLIDERS! & a fancy schmancy Ondeh Ondeh French Toast that was a good balance of flavours (not overly sweet / also you can't go wrong with brioche EVER mmm) (📷: @beaverwoo)

4 munchies: These well-cooked, plump ravioli squares stuffed with Parmesan were easy to slice through and firm to the bite. Topped with rocket leaves and bathed in Parmesan cream, the earthy black truffle shavings enhanced the savoury main with the right amount of intensity. I was pleasantly surprised that this dish was not cloyed by all the cheese indulgence and rich flavours.

Our last & final stop was to have the famous Kim Keat Hokkien Mee (S$15) which easily feeds about 2-3pax, depending on how hungry you are!
When the claypot arrived, all we saw was massive waves of steam and listened to the bubbling of the gravy. 😌 Digging right into the mixture of yellow mee, thick beehoon, prawns, sotong, clams topped with fried three-layer pork, which soaked up ALL the gravy, it was bliss right at that moment.
This is a must try & it's happily tucked at the corner of a coffee shop. You will know whether you're at the right coffee shop based on the number of the tables that have claypots on it & people slurping their noodles away.
Now you know what to get for lunch? 😏

Because I cannot come here and not order their gyozas (which are dressed all come-hither in mayo, chilli and shallots) AND a plate of their thick-cut, aromatic, roasted "chashu", something's got to give. And that something is the size of my bowl of ramen.
As much as I love their umami, rich and in-your-face spicy ramen, I rein in my greed (with some difficulty, mind you) and get the smaller portion at $12++. So that leaves just enough space in my belly to accommodate all my must-have's here. Once in a while, I also like to add a side order of corn ($2++) because I find it brightens things with a fresh sweetness.

Bariuma hails from Hiroshima, and sits in a quiet corner of Tanglin Shopping Centre. This (somewhat) hidden gem serves richly flavoured tonkotsu shoyu soup, and thick slices of chashu . A must-try is the Ajitama-Uma ($15), with thick cut flamed chashu, uncut egg and shoyu soup. If you like spice, the Kara Uma ($16) soup is known to be one of the spiciest. You must order a side of Aburi Charshu ($9), pork that has been grilled to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Seriously, you'll want more.
