The coffee shop houses Tanjong Rhu Pau, known for its mini-sized Char Siew Buns of slightly-sweet skin and moist pork fillings.

Chin Sin Huan 振新园 along Jalan Besar, however, is a local café concept by the second generation of the family.

Loved its Fan Choy bit.ly/chinsinhuan

Fluffy Butterscotch Banana Pancake. The fluffy and dense pancake was slightly crispy on the outside, slightly airy, yet sufficiently moist.

They’ve been opened since July but I haven’t been as active recently 😅
.
Anyway! Look at their interesting tea menu (swipe next), though it’s unfortunate the cold brews & matcha affogato were unavailable when I was there yesterday. Matcha latte was tad sweet for my personal liking but thumbs up to their velvety smooth Lavender Latte ($6)!

My favourite will be Apple ginger. The Apple flavour is very refreshing and the ginger, it’s savoury with the spicy heat. Make it become a best combination.
Feature : double scoop of Apple ginger and Speculoos. .

Will all the real matcha lovers please stand up? Hailing all the way from Tokyo, Kagurazaka Saryo (@kagurazakasaryosg) has opened its first store in Singapore at Vivocity (@vivocitysingapore)! With much anticipation, I tried the Matcha Houjicha Nitro Drink ($7.90) which is essentially matcha + houjicha infused with nitrogen. The consistency is really smooth and creamy. I mean, check out that froth! 😍 The addictive bittersweet taste is what Japanese refers to as 大人の味 (otona no aji) which means grown-up flavour. If you are into sweeter tea flavours, they have Iced Matcha/Houjicha Latte with kuromitsu or chocolate! 😘

The toast is accompanied by mixed berries, popcorn, passionfruit and pistachio ice-cream.

While the popcorn feels somewhat unnecessary, the toast has a nice crusty and crisp texture on the outside with a soft interior and is not too sweet, pairing well with the pistachio ice-cream along with the rest of the dish, coming together as something that would otherwise be quite a foolproof yet nevertheless satisfying mix of components. 😋

Finally finally found a place that sells ice kepal in Singapore!!! I first saw it on Facebook and omg the thick milo gooeyness 🤤 it’s $5 for a bowl and you can choose 2 toppings (we got milo powder of course and honey stars).

The service however isn’t fantastic, it might be because they are still new but we returned for a second time with 9 other friends (11 in total) and they actually turned us down.... was quite taken aback because hello business?? But apparently they couldn’t accommodate all of us and they didn’t bother to try to help us find an alternative like maybe we could sit outside or something, nope. The space above is closed for private event- which doesn’t make sense cause why wouldn’t you want business....

Citrus Marinated Salmon, Avocado Purée, Edamame, Pickled Cucumber Sticks, Ikura, Crispy Salmon Skin dusted with Kombu Butter. Spoilt for choice here the other day but was recommended this item. No regrets; really very impressed with the texture of the fish here that’s almost sashimi-like with its moistness but cooked — it gives a bit of bite, but one could taste that fresh flavours of cooked salmon. Other elements such as the avocado purée gives it some sort of creaminess, while the Ikura adds that umami pop; the fish skin was a thoughtful touch to give some crispness to the entire item as well, while the bread (baked in-house btw) is all crusty and chewy. Like how places like this puts so much emphasis and heart into their food; would be a place that I am going to make a note to revisit in the future. (PS: The folks here uses beans roasted by Prodigal Roasters/Cafe for their coffee here — you guys bet I will be back here soon!)

This durian dessert cafe is THE place for all things durian, served with a dose of industrial chic — think brick walls and exposed beam ceilings. Four Seasons Durian is well-known for their durian confectionaries, so rest assured these desserts will hit the spot. Go in a group so you can share the love but think twice about bringing non-converts; as Burppler Kris Lim says, the smell will hit you once you enter the space. The extensive menu is bound to get durian lovers hot under the collar. The D24 Durian Mochi ($5 for four) are chewy and rather mild but if you yearn for stronger flavours, go straight for the Mao Shang Wang Durian Mochi ($8.80 for four). Others to try include the Durian Strudel ($15.80), Mao Shan Wang Ice Cream ($5.80), Mao Shan Wang Coffe ($5) and the delectable Mao Shan Wang Ice Cream Puffs ($15.80 for six), which many say are a must-order. If you can't find a seat, get the Mao Shan Wang Takeaway Cup ($6.80) to go — the soft serve sundae makes a lovely treat while moseying through Chinatown.

You know a place's bakes are popular when people start calling in to reserve their post lunch treats! Bundt's brownies are pretty darn awesome and the one here - Brownie with Himalayan Pink Salt and Mars bar (&2.50) is just the perfect dark and salty post lunch pick me up!

Firm yet soft brownies, dark chocolate insides, hints of Himalayan pink salt... all paired together to give just the right notes. Best paired with coffee.

Ohhhh coffee here is good! My flat white used their Goliath Blend which was smooth, nutty and had a really nice chocolate finish to it.
