Coffee is quite good but I’m obsessed with the bottles!!!

Mad matcha craves for like 2 weeks so got my matcha fix at Hvala ☺️

Tried the Matcha cake (~$7.80)🍵, layers of matcha cake, cream and cookie crumbs (?? Not sure if that’s what they are but seemed like it) 😋 Cake was soft and moist, and cream was slightly sweet but not losing the strong matcha taste! Crumbs were so goooood, slightly salty and adding texture to the soft cake/cream, as a matcha fan I love this sooO much 😍

Hojicha ice blended (~$6) didn’t taste dilute or get diluted, roasted matcha taste was super evident but not bitter! .
Tried the waffles on ice cream previously and didn’t really like the waffles since they were too hard and stale-ish :-(

Aesthetically on point, this is a fancy cup of delicious mix of rum and whiskey. And as if it wasn’t smokey enough, the flask was filled with smoke for that additional touch. Amaretto was added in to sweeten things up and balance out all that smokiness, tied together with a measure of cherry syrup and black walnut bitters.⁣

The pearls are brown sugar pearls! But instead of brown sugar syrup, they use Gula Melaka. If you’re a fan of super milky drinks you will like this one! The pearls were a nice size too. Not the best imo but not too bad! (2.5/5)

Used burpplebeyond but somehow 2 drinks and 2 swiss rolls added up to $15.90 which I don't really understand (wasn't given the receipt either). For so many rave reviews, the swiss rolls were disappointing for being very average - in fact a lot less moist than I would've liked. Even the purple sweet potato one sounded promising but didn't deliver in terms of taste or texture. Service isn't the friendliest either. No wonder they were quite empty.

Creatively shaped to be the head of a bear - comprised of biscuit ears, chocolate eyes and nose, and a vanilla ice-cream mouth, I really enjoyed this despite feeling like the size of the shaved ice could have done with more sauce; then again that could be my issue of not having poured the sauce evenly throughout the dessert. The heavenly Hokkaido jersey milk syrup is a luscious, less sweetened take on condensed milk, with its sweetness additionally contributed but balanced off with a series of mixed fruits: orange, mango, white peach and strawberry. Note that the ice is not fine like bingsu, but rather coarser (yet easygoing on the spoon) as you'd typically expect from kakigori or ice kachang.

The vibes of the spacious interior and promising desserts - with which this proved to be more than just a gimmick - are factors that are bound to keep me coming back when I am along Tras Street (Tanjong Pagar), and I can't wait to try their mains and choux puff when I am back in Singapore! 😁

2nd time here and the group ordered 4 different Jaffles. Mr taiko is average and better taste it before it gets cold. Surprisingly, fishy business (spicy tuna mayo, the most left one) stands out of all and we all love it!

Creamy and smooth white cold brew, slightly nutty notes. Not too strong, but a nice sweet accompaniment for meals at The Populus. Not my favourite cold brew, that still goes to Lunar Coffee Brewers, but worth picking up too if you’re in the mood for a cold drink around the area. I’d go for the hot coffees next time for the beautiful latte art though!
