More Reviews of good food at Ma Maison Restaurant (Bugis Junction)

Ma Maison also runs seasonal specials from time to time. When we were there a few months ago, they were running a foie gras special!

We are big fans of their beef stroganoff which goes very well with rice though there are times when the sauce is a tad too salty and the beef too sinewy. At this price point, I wasn't expecting a refined smooth buttery piece of foie gras but this wasn't too bad!

IMHO Ma Maison serves one of the best value for money set lunches.

For $25.80, you get a soup of the day, salad, hamburger steak topped with a fried egg, omu rice, spaghetti and a drink to boot! That's a lot of food and probably enough to feed two pax! And the food is actually better than decent!

have always wanted to try ma maison's omurice! the egg was perfect - silky, soft and a little runny. but the ketchup rice was too bland and the brown sauce was too salty

i love these kinda pastas served at japanese western restaurants. they're simple yet umami, can't go wrong!

Must Add on for their tart for the full experience 😋 got the cheapest tart - grape tart ($7.80) which it’s topped with crunchy fresh grapes 🍇💗 healthy and sweet 😛

Turns out they have one of the best and affordable lunch sets even for weekends and PHs!✨

This Omurice w Hamburger Plate Lunch set ($24.50++) is part of their weekend and holiday lunch set menu✨ comes with salad and soup + choice of drink or scoop of ice cream💗 Its the best option for the best of all worlds - pasta + omu rice and hamburg steak with egg 🍳😍 so worth it! It’s the classic plate of japanese western cuisine 🥰

Was deciding between the tonkatsu and this but the waitress recommended the latter as their specialty here. Smothered in thick gravy, the minced beef patty was meaty and juicy without being overly salty. The roasted potatoes served as a good side with a very crisp surface and centers that added creaminess, together with the runny yolk! 😋 Am personally not much of a steak person, but I enjoyed this ground beef rendition 👍🏻 [8.5/10]

Serving size was a little small with about less than ten beef cubes. Saw photo reviews online that this was presented with some white cream over the sauce, but our plate was served without 😕 Nevertheless, the sauce was similar to the hamburg steak, but thicker and more viscous with stronger hints of soy sauce. I loved the scrambled eggs - so smooth and creamy, melting in my mouth with every spoon of rice!! 😍 [7.5/10]

While there was a decent amount of caramelised onions which added sweetness, the soup tasted rather one-dimensional, with a few soggy croutons under a blanket of regular cheese. Would appreciate a stronger savoury profile 😬 [5/10]

Ma Maison also serves an excellent value for $ set lunch.

For $24, you get a simple yet hearty 3-course steak set lunch with a soup of the day, striplon steak in yakiniku sauce, some garden greens, rice, pasta and a drink.

You will be sure to leave the restaurant feeling belly full!

Ma Maison held a "omu rice fair" recently and the seafood omu-rice pictured here was one of their chef's special for the event.

The dish featured crab meat fried rice, topped with their luscious and creamy omelette, mentaiko cream sauce and an entire fried breaded soft shell crab.

You can never go wrong with Ma Maison's omu-rice because it is consistently good! It comes with a generous portion of seafood and the sight of a whole breaded soft shell crab was just aesthetically pleasing.

We were smitten at first sight and bite by the Beef Katsu Omu-Rice. At $26.50++, this NEW dish is oishii-ness at superb value.
Presented in a pan is a thick slab of deepfried beef cutlet served with rice blanketed in a large, silky and runny-soft omelette, with a mildly spicy Japanese curry alongside. At the table, the staff stirs the slightly sweet, warm creamy cheese sauce before pouring it over the curry and beef. Terrifically tasty and deeply satisfying - we won’t hesitate to return for.

One of their signatures is the Hamburger Steak ($17.80) which comes with a 160g patty in a rich demi-glace sauce and a fried egg at the top. There are potatoes and boiled vegetables by the side for a balanced meal. The patty is lightly seasoned and has a not too overpowering beefy flavour to complement with the sauce. However, I find that the sauce can be a tad too salty if you eat it on its own. Besides the beef, we also shared the Chicken Steak with Garlic ($17.30) which was a delightful and tender piece of grilled chicken thigh drenched in a garlic butter sauce.

The Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti ($17.80) was another of the restaurant’s signature and we thoroughly enjoyed this pasta dish a lot. It had the right balance of umami-ness and oiliness that coats each strand of spaghetti well, alongside the other ingredients of mushroom and cuttlefish rings that is cooked in this dish.

A delight no matter how many times I return. The brown sauce is full gratification with the juicy patty, portion is perfect with some greens to make me feel like I had a balanced meal. (Set comes with small salad and soup of the day, plus choice of coffee / tea)

Coffee was honest, strong, smooth, and always a good end to the meal. Excellent set of staff at this Bugis branch, kudos for the Japanese manager for maintaining consistency all these years!

Not many places offer escargots in Singapore, but I do think theirs is one of the better ones I've had (even compared to restaurants overseas). Snails may sound really odd, but when cooked in luscious garlic parsley butter, served warm and eaten with an open mind, they're actually quite yummy.

Price: $11.90

Generous portion of rice and seafood, it’s good for sharing. Not the best we have tasted, but definitely worth a try if you are in the area. Overall, the service was good, staffs were friendly and helpful in recommending the items to order.

Ordered tonkatsu as an ala carte as we also had the seafood paella. The meat was crispy and succulent, it was a good balance between the batter and the meat. Must try for tonkatsu lovers!

I'm a creature of habit so I always order the same dish at the same place. This time I decided to try something different and boy, was I glad I did! Their butter rice was light and fluffy, topped with a soft runny omelette and creamy beef stroganoff gravy.

Price: $15.80

Expensive but the tart is really good and somehow the blueberries are sweet too! Many it’s because of the glacé.
