The star is their award-winning gravy, a blend of mashed sweet potato, fermented soy bean paste, and house spices. It's thick creamy smooth, with bright sweet savoury earthy salty spice flavour.

Nasi lemak is served à la carte with a range of dishes to choose from. I got myself a plate consisting of rice ($1), curried cabbage ($1), chicken wing ($1.80), begedel ($0.80) and fishcake ($0.80) along with sambal chilli on the side with slices of cucumber.

The rice has fragrant notes of pandan and coconut milk, lemak enough without being too rich. The chicken wing has a light crisp on the outside with moist and tasty flesh underneath. Begedel was undeniably tasty, crispy on the outside with soft and mushy potato filling inside. Sambal fishcake was firm and bouncy, coated with sambal chilli. Not to mention how addictive their sweet and spicy sambal chilli that goes so well with their coconut rice 》$5.40

Came at 12+ and there's not that many dishes left, so I had the chicken wing, curry veg, begedil, and peanuts and ikan bilis. The only dish I didn't have was the sunny side up.

Everything on the plate was perfect. The rice was soft and super fragrant on its own with a good amount of coconut milk taste but not super overpowering. It tastes even better in their curry sauce. The chicken wing was crispy on the outside while the meat is soft and tender and juicy and flavourful.

The veggie, begedil and peanuts and ikan bilis were all good, though nothing amazing.

Happy that I got to try this!

You should familiar with lontong in soup version, but there’s also dry version like this one.

Popular Malay food stall in Marine Terrace sell traditional Malay foods. Their dry version of lontong is almost like the normal mixed rice set except the rice have been replace with lontong instead.

The meal could be a bit dry so do grab some drink as well. $5

For my past few visits, they were always closed / sold out by the time I visited! Although I found the price slightly pricey, it was $3.5 for just two ingredients a chicken wing and a begedil (the breakdown of the price should be $1 for rice, $1.5 for chicken wing, 80 cents for begedil and 20 cents for takeaway container), the nasi lemak rice was super fluffy and fragrant, the highlight of the whole meal!👍🏻 The chicken wing was also nicely marinated and the sambal chilli sauce was just the right spicyness level for me (not super spicy and jus right sweetness). Be back again to eat this if I'm in the vicinity! #dauthenticnasilemak #nasilemak #marineparade #marineparadehawkercentre #burpple #burpplesg

Yok Mari Yok has been in the Marine Parade Central food centre even before the major refurbishment. It is back at the exact same spot.

I have always enjoyed their mee rebus. If memory serves me right, the older version was slightly more peanutty, gravy atad thicker and less spicy. The new improved one is less peanutty, lighter consistency but bears a lingering spicy kick.

It is somewhat like a crossbreed between a mee rebus and a meesiam but without the tangy mouthfeel. Actually, I quite liked it.

Apparently named one of the best mee rebus in Singapore according to “City Hawker Food Hunt 2017”, the sauce was slightly tastier than from your average Malay food stall, boasting a subtly sweet and roasty flavour that was quite complementary to its smooth, creamy consistency. Also, thr fried tofu cubes were squeaky on the outside and a little salty, just the way I like them. Avoid adding on the stodgy begedil though.

Why settle for the default options when you can ‘zhng’ your nasi lemak? For the princely sum of $5.7, I got the basic set ($3.5) which included chicken wing, fried fish, ikan bilis and egg, but also added sayur lodeh, begedel and chilli fish cake. There’s a long queue here, but I think it’s mostly because it’s cheap and plentiful.
