More Reviews of good food at Shashlik Restaurant

Exceptional food. I mean I can't stop talking about it since the time I have had it.

The ambience is very 1980s. Just takes you to old Russia. It's beautiful how they have done it. The music, the vibe, the decor was just perfect.

Ordered the pork ribs and fish. Along with Russian tea and wiskey. Pork ribs were falling off the bone and fish was as buttery as it can possibly be. The food was just melting in the mouth.

The bad: Service was blah. The lady who took the order was like a machine, no expression or suggestions.
The guys who served us acted like bots. Just doing their job with absolutely zero heart. The presentation of all dishes was supposed to be exceptional as shown in the photos and videos. The servers just didn't care and gave us the food as part of the job. I feel bad for the chef who must have done so much to cook the dishes to perfection.

Finally the price of this place is very reasonable and matches the food and class. We paid $150 in total and will definitely come back to try more dishes.

Should have ordered a dozen instead! Loving the parsley garlic butter drizzles. We even dip in the bread to eat with it 😆

Very interesting dish with bacon bites and cheese. It’s like an upgraded version of a usual breakfast receipt. Would recommend to try it if you are here.

This is their signature dish - beef tenderloin infused with their house-specialty marinade for 24 hours, served on a hot plate.

This is served medium-rare to medium (after further sizzling on the hot plate). The tenderloin is real tender as expected of the cut.

Was a tough decision between ordering the Shashlik of Beef and the Rack of Lamb. I eventually caved in to the rack of lamb. It was excellent! The lamb was very juicy and tender!

Will return to try their Shashlik of Beef next.

For dessert option and you want to watch some exciting preparation in action, then you definitely must go for this.

They will flame the homemade crepe for you with brandy and orange liqueur, before serving it to your table. It also comes with 2 big scopes of vanilla ice cream. $26++

The rice balls was interestingly fried in ball shape, making it easy to eat and slip on the civilised sauce.

The pork chop was tender with crunchy skin.

I was recommended to try this interesting name of dish here. The egg millionaire although won’t make you rich, but this starter was something worth ordering.

Served in eggshell goblets and filled with finely diced boiled egg with crispy bacon bits and parmesan cheese gratin. The taste was excellent and hot. $18++

Beside the borshch and mushroom, they also served onion soup; which interestingly topped with a melted cheese and crouton. Inside the soup you also find many herb-sautéed onions. $8++

It is glad to see this old restaurant reopened again after it was closed for some time.

Today finally get the chance to visit this place to try on their weekday lunch set.

Comes with a choice of soup, which I know most people would go for their famous borshch soup.

But their mushroom soup also taste great as well.

Their mushroom is really nice. Their oxtail meat is really v v soft great for all ages. The hainanese pork chop w fried rice ball was alright, expected it to be better though.

One look can see that this won't be a filling dish. Realized there's mash potato underneath the chicken chop after I moved it a bit. Taste okay. The meat is still easily cut but the mash potato isn't good. Doesn't have any potato taste. Oh! They actually give everyone a bread on table first before our order are ready. Customer service wise is good. But the food are just meh I guess. Not worth to visit again for the price.

One of my favourite soups in the world. Like some kind of magical cross between minestrone soup/tomato soup/beef stew, it is delicious beyond words. Could probably just drink this soup every day as my meal.

The soft fluffy bun served with their soup is also so yummy!! Add on that dollop of sour cream and a little side of butter, and I'm in heaven.

The mains here have improved, in my opinion. Was never a fan of their main dishes before, but I enjoyed them this time! Love the attention to detail - the tartar sauce served in a little sauce cup and the metal squeezer for the lemon.
The fish was nicely breaded and fried. My only grouse would be the thick-cut fries, which were slightly soggy and greasy. Strange because the fish was perfect.

Overall I thought their lunch set was very worth it!

Price: $16.80 for lunch set (inclusive of main + soup + coffee/tea)

Have been visiting this place since I was a child and have loved their Borscht Soup since then.
Enjoyed my Shashlik Steak, Escargots, and Borscht Soup from my visit today.
Will definitely be back for more!

This is a must order dessert at shashlik restaurant. It is made with vanilla ice-cream and sponge cake is covered with meringue. The serving process is interesting as the waiter would light up the flaming dark rum and pour it over the cake!
Price:$24

Very generous portion, feeds 2. Tasty dish. Will be back to try it again!

President Putin, who is in town on a state visit, would be shocked if he came to this ‘Hainanese Russian’ restaurant. For the food is hardly Russian, even the dishes that purport to be, like Bortsch, or chicken Kiev. The food is not bad, and the service endearing, but Slavic it ain’t. The lunch set menu is excellent value at $16.90++.
