Sinpopo Restaurant (Joo Chiat)

677 Wishlisted
~$20/pax
An ultra-retro environment that serves famous local cuisine in Joo Chiat. Sinpopo Brand may not strike you as a date kinda place, but it does bring a fun element to the night. Although the food is not quite rave-worthy, the idea of sharing an ice ball in a laid back 50s style eatery playing oldies on the 'radio' can be quite charming. Perhaps you could take a stroll along Joo Chiat Road after dinner, stop by Sinpopo, talk for hours about your childhood, and just enjoy each other ;)

Another good one. Pulut Hitam taste was superb and the fact that were there actual chewy rice grains made it so much better.

Intense gula melaka, with solid pieces in between. I liked it but damn was it sweet. Not for everyone, esp those without a sweet tooth

Interesting soy marinade that imparts a bit more than i expected. Pork was well done but still passably tender. Crispy at the charred bits too, and went ok with the legit curry sauce. Intense Onion jam? was nice

Broth was slightly diff from what i expected but it was sweet and slightly viscous. Overall, a very comforting dish, with an abundant amount of crab meat

Peranakan food. Truly singaporean style food and desserts.

Juicy and tender. At no point was the meat dry or hard.

Curry sauce taste just like McDonald's

Nice quiet ambience. Will return to try their cakes next time.

Had the beef horfun here and was surprised that they deep fried the horfun. Although have to say that i dont reallt understand why they fried the horfun as it made the broth really oily and lost the refreshing taste to it. Beef was nice and tender and broth was good.
