Real authentic fish and chips. Place smells like the fish n chips shops in London (fried oil aye). Standard portion is quite huge ($26+) and can be shared by 2, with a starter. Pork sausages tasted good as well ($14+).

Overall the food is great, but definitely q pricey

Each cod is like an eye-watering $26. One draft beer is like $15. Food took more than 40 minutes to arrive. Batter was not fully cooked and tasted floury in parts. Portion is massive. Cod was really quite dry (in spite of the fact it was cod). Place is very noisy and crowded, expect queues and crowds on a Friday night. All the Filipino staff plus the British owner all look quite overworked (the owner can clean tables extremely fast and he’s probably in his 70s). We probably wouldn’t come back. Food is not good and I would feel guilty for these workers to make their lives harder.

Finally tried the fish and chips at Smiths. Shared it with my mum. It was alright. The place had lots of customers and flying pigeons looking for food. The portions here is huge. Food took maybe 15-20 min to arrive. The cod was nice and soft. I found the batter a bit meh and not amazing... It kept falling off the fish. And wasn’t really seasoned. Hence the salt and vinegar on the table. The white haired owner also came to clean the table before the meal.

I prefer the fish and chips at PS. Cafe (but that’s like more than $40 with truffle fries.)

ordered both haddock and cod fish and chips, $25 each is a tad pricy imo. fries are soggy and quite thick cut (if you’re a thick fries person you’d like it). set does not come with drinks or any tartar sauce (sauce is an additional $1.10)

Finally tried the Smiths authentic fish and chips. I won’t say it matches what i had in london but it was a pretty decent meal.

I had the haddock and chips. The fish was the highlight, nicely battered, still flaky but not starchy. The chips was kinda soggy but i didn’t mind as it was not meant to be the commercial fries in fast food restaurants. $25 is a tad pricey and should have come with the peas or a free drink...
