Hidden jem. This place has been there for last 37 years and counting

The lady in charge is super polite and welcoming.

Got the shake for $7. Generous portion of ice cream and really heavy to drink. Complete value for money.

I loved the place and highly recommend to anyone who loves coffee and shakes and pie.

Pork Chops are nicely marinated and tender. A simple dish, slightly pricey at $18. Steeples deli had this old school attraction that draws passerbys.

I never, ever leave Steeple's Deli without getting a few pieces of their fantastic house-made fudge.
Moist yet a little crumbly in texture, they are a dark chocolate flavour with sweetness coming from the puffs of super soft marshmallows embedded within.
At only 90 cents per piece, I think it's sacrilegious to not at least give it a try. And if you then choose to leave clutching a bagful, I totally understand.

Took a trip down memory lane for lunch today. Steeple's Deli is a place I have been visiting since my early 20's - they are Singapore's first delicatessen and have been around for 35 years! And yes, I have been finding enormous satisfaction in their sandwiches and milkshakes all this time.
On nearly every trip, the Pastrami ($15.90 nett) and the Reuben ($16.90 nett) are the two sandwiches I find myself constantly torn between. Today, the Pastrami won.
So it was its very well-composed yumminess of moist, hot pastrami, melted cheese and wholemeal bread that I found myself sinking my teeth in. Also tucked in there were a neat stack of crisp, dry lettuce (I find this small detail so important as I detest wet bread *shudder*) and sliced tomatoes. If wholemeal doesn't suit you, you can opt for rye or white.
Their milkshakes, made with scoops of ice-cream, are not to be missed. I had the Caramel Latte flavour ($6.90 nett) this time and really liked it.

had a simple beef burger and an amazeballs cookies and cream milk shake at this adorable vintage American-style deli. they have a variety of sandwiches, burgers and brunch items! will definitely be back to try more. Gonna be my default food place in orchard!

I haven't had many experiences of pecan pie, so when I read on the walls of Steeple's Deli about how good the pecan pie was, there was not much for me to base it upon. Regardless, I don't think pecan pies are to my liking, I find them too nutty and too much to have to chew with each bite. Although the 'filling' underneath the nuts was nice and warm, it was too soft and deconstructed itself with each stab of the fork. It was reasonably tasty I guess, but I think the pecans overpower. The crust was thin and was reasonably buttery, going well to support the rest of the pie. As I said earlier, not much to say except that I don't really like pecan pie.
