Tong Heng is a heritage bakery that has been in operation since 1935. Tong Heng specializes in traditional Chinese pastries, it is famous for its diamond-shaped egg tarts. https://hungryghost.sg/tong-heng/
One of my favourite egg tarts in SG! Their egg tarts consist of a slightly sweet, silky egg custard, with a somewhat crisp flaky shell. It wasn't too rich/heavy as the wasn't super buttery, but shiok enough to be a good treat.
If you didn’t get a fresh-from-the-oven one, reheating it will do the trick!
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and indeed, that’s true when the diamond is in the form of @tonghengsg egg tarts.
While there’s been a hype for another brand’s egg tart which has recently opened in town, I guess this will always be my first love heh ✨
Always snag a box of 6 when I pass by chinatown. Currently only available for takeaways, no dine in allowed. Each per is $2, get 6 pieces and a box will be provided. Otherwise will be placed in a plastic bag.
This place need no further introduction haha they have a decent range of pastries but I will always grab at least one to two boxes of 6 egg tarts to share it with my family!
When I introduce my friend, Tai Cheong, she mentioned that Tong Heng is better. Hence, decided to give it a shot.
The tart was crispy and the egg mixture is not bad. It is better than Tai Cheong.
This is easily the best egg tart I have
