Decent satay bee hoon ($4) but feel that quantity is too small. It would be good if larger portion offered
Ordered this Boon Tong Kee Kway Chap ($4.70). It is delicious and filling which is worth the Michelin Guide it has won.
After wanting to try so long but always close, finally managed to try when it opened.
I ordered the $5 version and it really taste delicious. The amount of ingredients is generous such as pork lard, egg, fish cake and have the wok hey.
I will give this a try again but downside is that they do not have fixed operation hour.
Order the Black Bean Noodle ($4.50) from a China Chinese stall.
Decent quality and affordable at hawker price. Too bad the stall closing for a month plus for holiday I believe
And how could we not try the Szechuan Spicy Wanton (10 pcs) ($6) after seeing many food review about it? They were truly εε ¨εηΎ (perfect in every way) - tangy, vinegary, and spicy hot in all the right spots. The skin was smooth and the meat inside was tender, but the sauce is definitely the winner. It give the perfect kick to the wantons. I literally drink off the vinegar mixture as a soup because its just so nice. Make sure to get a plate of these!
These buns have a smooth and slightly thick skin, encasing succulent marinated meat that's soupy on the inside. It was a perfect little bite of heaven.
Steamed Mini Bun (7 pcs) ($5.50)

"Lau Goh Teochew Chye Thow kway"
The owner may be deaf, but the food speaks for itself! Be prepared to point at the menu and get ready to be impressed by their skills. We got the Mixed Carrot Cake ($6) and this dish has everything going for it - the wok hei, the crisp texture, and the delicious eggy flavour. It's neatly and flatly served, topped with a sprinkle of pepper and spring onion, and has just the right amount of spiciness to bring out more flavour. And if you can't decide between the black and white ones, why not get both? One is sweet, while the other is savoury - the perfect balance of flavours!
Ah, the joy of hawker hopping never gets old, especially when you discover hidden gems like these! Our latest venture took us to Zion Riverside Food Centre where we found some delicious treats.

Famously owned by a deaf couple, this store serves up carrot cake with dangerous levels of wok hei. The outer layer of the dish is mouthwateringly charred while the inside is still soft.
π Tip: it might look like there's no queue here because they go by a counter system. So order this FIRST before queueing for the other stalls!π
I'm not a fan of intestines but the slivers of melt-in-your-mouth pork and tofu were good stuff. I don't know what they did to the kuay chap sauce they were marinating in, but it's something that brings this store's offerings to another level.
A must try here because it's queues are not AS LONG as the rest of the stores here.
This famous char kuay teow boasts a picture of PM Lee visiting it. When I visited, the queue snaked all the way out of the hawker centre to the main road. The cooks weren't perturbed by the long queue though and really took their own sweet time for each dish. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing!
I waited 45 minutes for this and wasn't that impressed in the end. There wasn't some amazing level of wok hei nor flavour and the worst thing is that they severely undersalted the dish. Oh well there are other stalls much more worth queueing for in this hawker centre!
Silky soya + syrup which has the right amount of sweetness (less sweeter than PHβs taho). Perfect to warm up our tummies before having the rest of our lunch π

Heard about this Char Kway Teow from Zion Riverside Food Centre and decided to give it a try. I got the biggest portion at $8, which is definitely enough to feed 2. They are known for the wet version of the dish and true enough, the noodles were drenched in the sweet soy sauce. However, I do find that this version is too sweet for me! The cockles were very fresh and huge as well. It is a good plate of Char Kway Teow, but perhaps not worth a long journey just for it.
We got the Oyster Omelette ($6) at the Riverside Good Food stall and it was pretty tasty! The omelette sides were crispy and there were doughy bits within. The oyster pieces were so huge and plump! ππ
We also got satay and chicken wings from Chong Pang Huat BBQ Chicken and they were so good π you can really taste the char and the chicken wings we're still juicy within. A great addition!
Of course, the char kway teow is a must-try if you are paying a visit to Zion Riverside Food Centre! It is probably the only stall with a snaking long queue at the hawker centre and the queue may get even longer during mealtimes on weekends! π° The char kway teow comes with the standard kway teow, Mee, beansprouts, eggs, Chinese sausage and cockles! This is the $6 serving so it will probably be a little too heavy for one person and it might be better to share a dish of this size between two pax instead!
This char kway teow dish is a little on the sweeter side and they probably added more of the sweeter dark soy sauce. It is natural to compare the dish with our favourite stall at Hong Lim Food Complex and we think the stall at Hong Lim serves char kway teow with more wok hey. Hence, you may not like the Zion Road version as much if wok hey is a very important factor for you!
Nonetheless, the dish is still above average and we would advise you to give it a shot if you have yet to try it once in your life. We visited the hawker centre on a rainy day and queues were generally shorter, probably because there are no sheltered walkways and no MRT stations in the area yet!
Would recommend the black one over the white one, and ordering just the black would be cheaper than the yuan yang kind- both black and white carrot cake ($5). Taste wise is good but portions are a bit too small to feel satisfied especially if sharing.
Ordered the $8 prawn noodle with pork rib. The soup was so good that I went back for a refill. That was even before I started eating the ingredients. Long queues even at like 2pm on a weekend. The prawns were fresh and big. Ribs were tender with a bit of fats. Stall name is fresh taste big prawn noodle, find the one with lots of newspaper cutting
