Chunky lobster roll one-for-one is so succulent and ocean fresh. Keep it up!

Ordered: Matcha and Sweet Potato Cashew Nut Latte

❣️More than just an insta worthy cafe, Kebun joins the vegan party with their menu of lactose free drinks that do more than just tasting good on the tongue. The Matcha latte is slightly “sandy” as this green power pack is made by whisking matcha powder and water to a thick froth (yes, done the good old traditional Japanese way) before the cashew milk is added. The sweet potato latte on the other hand is made with blended sweet potato and cashew milk. Yeap you didn’t read it wrong, it’s blended sweet potato made fresh on the spot upon order. Talk about “respecting” ingredients 😉! Fresh tea lattes are on the menu too so do check them out if you are in the area *Hong Lim Food Centre ahem*~

Blue Label prides itself as serving the best pizza in Singapore, and indeed it does. It’s not easy to get a table here, as the restaurant’s often fully booked in advance.

With its casual but sophisticated charm, it’s hard not to love this place. An upscale pizzeria, the restaurants keeps things grounded with the 80s rock music playing in the background that is very much reminiscent of your typical American diners. Its intimate size also makes the experience more personal - and I have only the highest compliments for the service we were dished. They were extremely accommodating with our requests as a large group celebrating a birthday!

Now, on to the dishes proper… There’s something inventive in the way Blue Label gives its own twist on each pizza dish - blending what I would consider atypical flavours and textures for pizzas together. Case in point: the Umami Bomb ($29) is assembled with shiitakes, spinach, lemon, anchovy, goat’s cheese, and a cornmeal crust. It was really an explosion of umami-ness, and probably my favourite just because of its uniqueness.

The other popular pizzas in the house that came recommended are the J-Dog ($32) and Black Magic ($38). The pork sausage on the J-Dog was one of the tastier ones I’ve had on pizzas, and the jalapeño red sauce was just fantastic. The Black Magic did feel like it has some secret magic in the black truffle cream sauce which was pretty heavenly. What makes this place the best pizza place for me is their amazing pizza dough, superb ingredients, and standout base sauces.

When you’re there, don’t miss out on the starters either. The honey-garlic-sriracha chicken wings ($14 for 3 drumsticks & wings) were well-glazed with a kick of spiciness and sweetness at the same time. Their State Fair Fries ($25) would satisfy both lovers of fries and wedges, as they are something of an in-between. Having the fried egg and shaved truffle to top the dish was something pretty unique as well.

It won’t be long til I return here again - hopefully, if I can get seats ;)

Reasonable price at $5 for 3. A little sweetness in the porkish juice and meat is truly delicious and authentic. The crispy exterior w rich taste inside is my LOVE.
But the rest dishes is not filling n a little disappointing compared to the fried dumplings.

If you ever managed to snag a meal time here you should inform Chef early for this. It’ll come out sizzling hot and smelling yummy. Crispy outside and tender inside. It’s not overly sweet. This is just one of the many items he has that needs advance order.

These handmade noodles were very tasty and had a smooth texture. The tomato with egg in this gave it a refreshing taste and I enjoyed this very much!

Sexily smoky steak, a mountain of shoestring frites and a complex little number of a black pepper sauce. Pretty worth it for $28++ if you ask me.

Fatty pork belly lacquered in a dark soy glaze, sat snug with pickled cabbage, cilantro and peanuts in a pillowy mantou bun. This is a fair rendition of a classic that I wouldn’t mind ordering again as nibbles to go with Zui Hong Lou’s cheap but excellent cocktails.

Taste: 3.5/5

Highly recommended! This dish takes the classic grilled prawns and pimps the umami factor with nori butter and kombu cooked with soy, sake, mirin. The savoriness of this dish will definitely leave you clamoring for more!

Attended a Burpple Eatup recently at Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles at Tiong Bahru Plaza — an eatery serving up beef noodles hailing from Lanzhou with around 300 outlets across China. The menu is simple, offering only four variations of beef noodles while patrons can choose from eight different types of noodles — patrons can also opt for a set at an additional $4 which includes side dish, braised egg and drink. My favourites were the Dry Beef Noodles with Flat Noodles (chewy with a substantial bite; absolutely slurpy — an entire strand of noodle that is fun to eat) which was made better with chili and coriander mixed in, while the Mala Spicy Beef Noodles carried just a comfortable tinge of numbness and spiciness that fits really well for those who are not too accustomed to Mala. We also tried the Signature Beef Noodles; the broth being cooked and reduced from an entire shank with the meat being used for the beef slices within the noodles. Pretty delicious and authentic, with flavours accustomed to the local palate.

Thanks to Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles for hosting, and Burpple for the invite!

So fresh so clean and so tasty! Pick and choose from a list of ingredients to customise your own bowls. I’d recommend getting the soba with tom yum dressing here. The noodles are smooth with the right amount of bite, and when they’re slick in that tangy, slightly fiery sauce — delish! All meats and fish (except their baked Dory) are made with a sous vide machine here, which makes for stellar doneness. A great affordable and healthy option. Owner and Chef, Shannen, is also very friendly and accommodating — thanks for having us!

Flame grilled Argentinian Steak (~330g ) boasting a perfect ombrĂŠ doneness. Served with Potato Wedges which is steamed & confit prior to frying, and a side of bĂŠarnaise dip.
