At first glance, this corner store at the newly opened coffeeshop along Tyrwhitt Road looks like any regular noodle shop. But take a closer look and you'll find familiar SiChuan dishes like Boiled Dumplings with Chili ($5) and Sour and Spicy Noodles ($5). The selection may be limited, but all we ask for is affordably-priced and perfectly executed SiChuan fare. The owner, who is from SiChuan, shares that his spice levels have been turned down a few notches to suit our local tastebuds, but is more than willing to provide the "authentic" SiChuan taste for spice lovers — just ask for the "perverted" spicy level (bian tai la). We love the Sour and Spicy Noodles ($5), a comforting bowl of chewy noodles swimming in a flavourful chili-vinegar broth that is not too spicy to slurp on. Pair that with a plate of Cold Tossed Pig Ears ($5) and Boiled Dumplings with Chili ($5) and you've got a seriously satisfying meal!
Avg Price: $10 per person

Decided to stop by, fortunate to encounter a short queue of 40 minutes.

This Teochew style Bak Chor Mee was awarded 1 Michelin Star earlier in 2016, making it the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world.

Still as good as I remember, robust broth, springy noodles, tender pork, sauce that is sour savoury with a slight hit of spice.

The craving for soya sauce chicken had me going down to Chinatown to visit Hawker Chan for the first time! Arrived a little before 6pm and got in in a jiffy due to the fast turnover of tables. I still remember how my mum used to queue for half an hour to buy boxes of whole chickens, roasted pork and char siew back home, and that was long before it was awarded the Michelin Star. Haven't had it for a long time because of the snaking long queues, so I was excited to be here!

Got the half chicken to share and topped up $1.50 for each portion of noodles. The noodles were q, had a nice bite and was generously served in sauce, so you don't have to worry about it drying up. As for the star of the show, the glossy silky chicken skin still tastes as flavourful but the meat not as tender, especially the non-drumstick parts. But for the shorter waiting time and an air conditioned seating area, it's worth to go! Chili here is also quite shiok, remember to get some!

This humongous platter of Nasi Ambeng was the highlight for me on #BurppleTastemaker Julius' #TastyTastemakerTour.

This is a platter that will draw stares of envy when it arrives and more stares when you savour every last bit of it. It contains the best of what ENAK has to offer: awesome wings, sotong, rendang, and those eggplants 😋.

For $22.50 only, this is something really hearty to share with friends or family. If you can't handle the pressure from eating such a huge serving, the shop does offer smaller portions to satisfy your craves. 😂

I love how with the Burpple Tastemakers community, a sinful supper doesn't seem like much of a crazy idea at all even though we just had a tasting! Have been wanting to try this and now that I've did, the one word to describe it is SHIOK. I thought I was too full for a whole plate but nah, how do you resist a beautiful mess like this? Enjoyed the pork cutlet and ngoh hiang but I loved the thoroughly braised cabbage and magical concoction of curry + lor (braised sauce) drenched all over. Affordable, effortlessly tasty and so satisfying!

Back for the extremely affordable wagyu beef rump cap steak ($13) and I was still impressed with its smokiness, flavour and marbling (the bits of crispy juicy fat that burst in the mouth were so sinful but delightful)!!!!

Taking one last look at the burgers of #hambaobao. Crispy pork belly skin melding with the fatty meat. Japanese cucumbers with hoisin sauce and mustard to cut through the fat. Gonna miss this place after it closes.😭😭

I thought it was quite a good deal of $25 for 3 crabs and I personally enjoyed soaking the fried mantous in the salted egg yolk sauce. And of course the meal was made better with this bunch of people!

My mom couldn't stop saying "I have never had such fragrant noodles for a long time!"and mind you my mom seldom give praises to food. This is total comfort food where you can just slurp it all down!

Hearsay they queued for half an hour for this $5.90 bowl of gorgeous 'charsiew wanton mee'. The melt-in-the-mouth charsiew, crispy potato wrapped prawn, soft-boiled Japanese eggs and prawn wanton were so pleasing to the palette! Would have been even better if they didnt add so much oil...

This already famous Soya Sauce Chicken Rice even before it received their star. Glad to say that it's basic chicken rice is still $2 and half chicken at $7!
Can really understand the hype and why the star is all deserving. Super succulent juicy plump chicken 🍗😋 And the best part of my experience was that I only had to queue 10 minutes, made it even more yummier 🙌🏻

The noodles was pretty normal but go for their pan fried dumplings which was crispy and juicy. The Szechuan dumplings (10 for $4.50) were beautifully wrapped. It wasn't too spicy or too vinegary as well. Super silky with a nice balance of the crunchy prawns and soft meat filling.
