Made use of the 1-for-1 deal. So I think it is still worth it.
Went at 12 noon on a Sunday. The place was packed to the brim. Not easy to find a table. Had to leave my stroller outside the small place.
Perhaps one may want to consider buying takeaway to have it at the food centre just across the road, which is sparsely populated on weekends. It is cooler there than in the cafe.
One of the better chicken ‘burgers’ I had due to the sheer size of it. Thick, chunky, and juicy. I think it is a tad too oily for my liking. I mean, even the buns were soaked with oil. It was served with warm but I cannot imagine having it after it has cooled down.
I enjoyed it though it didn’t blew me away. Then again, I’m not a mcspicy/zinger burger person in the first place.
Dian Xiao Er has a super deal set lunch for 2 pax at $32.80++ available at specified outlets!* 11:30am-2:30pm.
A deceptively bland/ plain-looking dish that actually turns out to be quite fragrant and delectable. Love this simple dish!

Such a simple and classic dish. Love having this with rice.
Not featured in photo, but I also chose the Stir-fried baby kailan with salted fish and lime.
The stir fried baby kailan is done with lime juice. Cooked under the strong fire, salted fish bits and red chilli slices are added to the veggies. Then, the baby kailan is tossed with some lime juice and other seasonings which gives the dish a tinge of contrasting sourish lime taste which makes it an interesting and refreshing dish.

It is one of the healthier choice restaurants. I like the fact that they allow you the option to order brown rice over white rice without charging you extra, unlike most other eateries.
Stir-fried Kung Poe Abalone Mushroom; the mushrooms were deep fried before they were stir fried in a savoury, slightly spicy sauce.

4 of us ordered two set lunches and we top up $4.60(X3) for 3 sets of soup of the day (old cucumber with pork ribs). Soup (炖汤)is really good; flavoursome and wholesome, and really so worth getting.
The signature herbal roast duck is unbeatable! Bite into the skin and taste the explosion of herbaliciousness.
Their roast ducks are different from what you have outside as they are tender, and at the same time, juicy.
There is the Dang Gui (Angelica herb) Roast Duck, which is fragrant, savoury and slightly bitter, and there is also the Shi Quan (Ten wonder herbs) Roast Duck, which is slightly sweeter. Personally, I prefer the Shi Quan Roasted duck. It is a must-try!
My Friend recommended me this place.
Now it is one of my favourite mee!
Usually, there will be a queue. But the wait is usually short. Less than 15 min.
The mee pok is QQ and delicious.
The Ngoh Heong is savoury and the fish cake is simply chunky and yummy.
Usually, there is one fried wanton. But it is out of stock today. So they replaced with fishball instead.
Get the $3.50 大肥餐 will do. The mee for $4 大肥餐 is a bit too much... unless you are a big(ger than average) eater.
Had Ampang Niang Toufu along East Coast Road and walked past this shop. Decided to try out due to the touted benefits of Açai Berries. Love the taste!

Long Ji Wanton Noodle has shifted to
Bedok North Street 3
Block 509
Singapore 460509.
So happy to have found them again. I still think they are one seriously underrated wanton mee place.
They have updated their recipe for their sauce. STILL Good. But I prefer the old version. I remember it was more fragrant... even better! Hope they switch back!:))
—————————————————————————
This stall, Long Ji Wanton Noodles, used to be located at Kim San Leng Kopitiam just behind Tampines Round Market. They shifted to operate their stall in some industrial area and my hub and I miss their wanton mee since then.
Tried their wanton mee out (grudgingly) by chance one day when Tampines round market was closed for cleaning.
Boy I’m so glad I did! Amazing good!
Their thinner-than-usual al dente mee kia with their unique sauce is CONSISTENTLY GOOD. This is also what I love about this stall. The one who cooks the noodles is usually the Husband, but the Wife cooks just as well.
It is so good you can eat the noodles with JUST the sauce on its own. They have fried wantons for the fried food lovers, but their boiled wantons is what I love! There’s a subtle taste of aromatic “tee por“ (dried sole fish) that permeates their boiled wantons. Their char siew may not have charred bits but they are nice and not the paper-thin kind.
In my opinion, even the Xing Ji Noodles stall (with Super Long queues every weekend) that is located in the Tampines Round Market cannot match this! No horse run! Sadly, there are Long queues for Granny’s pancakes and the briyani stall but not for this good but relatively unknown small stall tucked in a corner.
One day, when we decided to visit Bedok North Street 3 Market for breakfast, I saw a banner advertising for Long Ji Wanton Noodles and decided to check it out. Bang! We found Long Ji again!!💖💖💖
Yes!! Long Ji has shifted out from dunno which ulu industrial area to Bedok North Street 3 Kopitiam!!!
I don’t know the name of the Kopitiam, but it (the Kopitiam) is at the corner of block 539, NEXT TO New Century Food House Kopitiam.
They used to work only the morning shift when they were in Tampines, but now, they are opened till 8pm.
If you were never a fan of wanton mee, you really ought to try this stall out. You will like wanton mee after this. If you like wanton mee, then you should also try this out because this is one up from your average wanton mee. This will set a new benchmark for your wanton mee. This is a mind-changing bowl of wanton mee! I am more of a hawker-centre person than a Kopitiam person but because of this stall, I am willing to head towards a Kopitiam for breakfast instead.
Like Ping Ji Bo Bia of Berseh Food Centre and Soon Wah Fishball Noodles of Newton Food Centre, Long Ji Wanton noodles is a gem 💎 that truly deserves more appreciation, attention and recognition.
By the way, next to the drinks stall in this Kopitiam, there’s a pancake stall that sells crispy pancakes. They spread a thin layer of savoury peanut paste on their thin, crispy pancakes. Makes a good snack! Yum!
This is the bomb! I like how the exterior is a bit crispy but still doughy. The salted egg custard is overflowing as you break the bun — salted egg porn alert! The custard could have been smoother, but can't complain for the quite affordable price tag. It's a must-order!
I have not visited this eatery in person before, but I have ordered food via Deliveroo a number of times. In fact, for the past two months, I have been ordering takeaways from Foodpanda and Deliveroo. There is one outlet that delivers consistently excellent (value-for-money) food and that’s Collin’s Grille.
This ‘Grilled Salmon Fillet with Pesto Cream, Pasta, Corn and Salad’ costs only $11.90. Look at the ginormous salmon fillet! Best of all, it tastes consistently good.
The salmon is perfectly cooked with crispy edges, the pasta al dente, the corn (OMG) superbly sweet!!! Don’t like corn? Try theirs! Their corn is life-changing!
If they are this good for delivered food, you can imagine the high standards of the food they serve at their outlet!
You can’t get anything of better value on Foodpanda and Deliveroo. Damn ‘tokong’! Highly recommend!
Back for more MSW!

It is definitely much more crowded at 227 Katong Durian on weekends. There are a lot of people waiting in line (for takeaway). It is actually a lot faster to just dine-in.
All other varieties of durians were sold out by the time we reached. There’s only MSW left.
So we tried 3 MSW durians ($16/kg). Came up to 5.5kg ($80) and 1 MSW durian ($20/kg).
MSW durians... good as always. For the $16/kg ones, the level of sweetness/ bittersweetness varies across the different ones we got. Some are more sweet than bitter and some are more bittersweet than sweet.
The $20 prob tasted like the one where it is more a bit better that the one that is most bitter(sweet) but more fragrant and creamy. Thicker flesh definitely. So good!!!

According to The Straits Times (5/7/2018), now is the best time to have durians (again) due to an abundant/ (over)supply of durians from M’sia (because of the hot weather). Cheap and good durians are definitely worth splurging one’s calories on.
There is a short stretch of (parallel) parking (lots) just right outside the shop, but it would be better to park nearby and walk a short distance instead.
Really love my experience at 227 Katong Durian (after an unpleasant one at Geylang). Humble, hardworking, reliable sellers who are not pushy at all. The (seating at the) shop is clean, air conditioned and comfortable. Like most other durian places, they provide (disposable) gloves, salt and tissues for your convenience (if you need).
Today, there’s only 2 of us. So, we told the seller to choose a durian for us and that we didn’t want something that’s too big (definitely not 7kg 🤣).
We prefer something sweet with a tinge of bittersweetness, but definitely not something too bitter. The red prawn durians they have are all slightly bigger, but at 2kg, they are perfectly acceptable. We had one of that.
The red prawn durian was smooth in texture, creamy, had a honeyed taste with a very slight subtle hint of bitterness. It still leaves a sweet aftertaste. Delicious! Most of the seeds are small as well.
The MSW durian chosen was slightly smaller at 1kg++. Opening up, we could smell the sweet aroma. The MSW is sweet (only slightly bitter) and the flesh is rich and mostly creamy. Most of the seeds are flat.
We also ordered two coconut drinks (fresh young coconuts) and the total cost for 1Red Prawn, 1MSW and 2 coconuts came up to $40. Worth it.
When I reached home at night, while searching for other reliable durian sellers online, I was pleasantly surprised to find 227 Katong durian on Makansutra’s list of (TOP) 5 reliable durian sellers.
This is a place I will visit again.
