MSW Durian Truffle Choc: rich fresh durian flesh inside, very yummy!!!! Thick choc sides as well;
Bao de fraise- strawberry cheesecake petite gateau, velvert cream cheese mousse w strawberry jelly, pistachio praline.

A fruity and feminine number, their Bao De Litchi ($8.80) was certainly sweeter in comparison. Enveloped in lychee mousse gateau, the cake was filled with lychee jelly, raspberry cremeux, and earl grey sponge, sitting atop a vanilla sable. Best when all the elements are eaten all together; the airy lychee mousse was a tad too sweet for me while the vibrant cremeux a tinge too tangy so a forkful of everything was the way to go. The sponge was light as well with a slight floral note but the flavours worked together on a whole.

One of their signature cakes, Ai Cafe’s Matcha Goma ($9.80) is a must-try for black sesame lovers as the nutty flavour was rather pronounced in my opinion. Apart from the dominant goma taste, the cake was none too sweet and had a great medley of textures. Encased within a soft matcha mousse gateau, the bamboo-shaped cake spots delicate layers of black sesame mousse, crisp-crunchy feuilletine, and matcha sponge. Alone, the mousse gateau had a nice yet light earthy note. The mousse and feuilletine hid within, on the other hand, was richer and featured the deep aromatic flavours of the sesame. The crumbly base of buttery vanilla sable also offered an extra bit of bite.

Knew this gorgeous bamboo dessert was one to try the moment I saw it floating around IG and glad I did!

Pardoning the messy cut made (with dessert forks), the cross section featured even layers of black sesame mousse, feuilletine, matcha sponge and vanilla sable encased within a matcha mousse gateau.

The nutty black sesame was the more dominant flavour, and would have preferred for richer matcha flavour. Nonetheless, a delightful and enjoyable dessert with great textural interplay of jelly, smooth mousse, crunchy feuilletine, and crisp sable.

Their flat white ($5.50) was standard but enjoyed the pairing with a rich dark chocolate that enhanced the natural sweetness and nuttiness of the coffee.

Tea break @aicafesg. A display of cakes with interesting options like Matcha Goma ($9.80).

Shaped like bamboo, it is made with layers of black sesame mousse, black sesame feuilletine and matcha sponge encased within the matcha mousse gateau. Nice pairing though the black sesame seem to overpower the matcha notes
