The chai poh is what makes the Chwee kueh a success… this is top 3 best Chwee kueh in Sg for me, tho I can’t remember what’s the other 2 😛. Chye poh is fried n fragrant, very nicely minced.

A well know name across many hawker centre and of course it always come to your mind whenever you come to Bedok for some foods.

The queue always formed here even before the usual dinner time in the afternoon, and you could easily see people getting a few packages of it.

They no longer selling at lesser portion, now selling with either 3 or 4 pieces. As always, they added lots of cai po on top of it. The chwee kueh remain very soft. Perfect match with the chili paste.

A popular brand with outlets across Singapore, their consistency and quality in serving this lone dish got them the Michelin Bib Gourmand back in 2019.
.
The steamed rice cake is soft, smooth, with a wobbly bounce. Has a mild grainy sweet flavour, evident of the lack of filler starch, and more of the rice itself.
.
The preserved daikon radish is finely chopped, slow stewed with sesame seeds in vegetable oil, having a gentle juicy crunch without being overly oily, and enticing vegetal sweet salty nutty flavour.
.
The sambal belachan is chunky, robust with shrimpy savoury salty spicy flavour, pairing well.
.
The consistently delicious quality, together with its affordability, is a winning combination.

A perfect snack for any time of the day, we have hands-down one of the best Chwee Kueh available in Singapore. (3 pieces for S$1.50)

The first taste of the soft and supple rice cake brings forth the mild and subtle fragrance of rice. Only through tireless experimentation can such texture be created; A fine balance of rice flour and water mixture ratios. Tender and simple, it lays the foundation to balance the strong flavours of the Chye Poh. Chye Poh is an aromatic mixture of preserved radish, garlic and shallot. Sweet, salty and addictive, the umami surge is toned down by the rice cake. Finish it off with sambal chilli and dried shrimps, an undoubtedly splendid recipe! Consistency and uncompromising standards through the years, the Bedok Chwee Kueh has proven itself to be well-deserving of its reputation.

However, if you want the OG stall that won the Michelin Bib Gourmand, this is it. With a perpetual queue for these steamed rice cakes, the popularity started way before they were listed in the Michelin Guide Singapore, and since then, the queue gets even longer on peak hours. Though it might look simple, the pairing of these rice cakes with preserved radish, that is of a sweet-savoury flavour, and the sambal chilli is just a perfect snack at any time of the day.
