Pipping hot, the Truffle Fries ($12) were good too. Thicker than shoestring fries, their rendition was rather addictive. The golden-brown exterior stayed wondrously crisp, and the grated Parmesan cheese is always a plus on well-seasoned fries. Though I could only wish that the portion was bigger.

The new restrictions are a real downer but that also means more options and opportunities to order in. Hence, with my recent visit to Beurre over lunch, I definitely see myself ordering their Wagyu Gold Mash ($18) again. Served with a savoury black pepper sauce on the side, the medium-rare wagyu steak was succulent and juicy. The protein was also nicely seasoned and well-executed, pretty decent for the price point. Sitting below the thick, hearty slices were glorious Yukon gold mashed potatoes. The silken mash was perfectly buttery and creamy - went exceptionally well with the meaty flavour of the wagyu.

The ideas behind the dishes are conceptualised through a modern and innovative thinking process, to create food with a fusion touch of European and Asian flavours. We were there for the ala carte dinner menu and sampled several of their dishes which we started off with the Tuna Cups ($16) that were a burst of refreshment. These one-biter kueh pie tee cups contain tuna tartare in a tangy spicy Thai dressing and topped with ikura, a perfect marriage of several Asian cultures with European cooking methods. It was followed with the Deep Sea Argentina Prawns ($19) that comes with battered deep fried prawn heads that reminiscent of prawn crackers, over a bed of lobster emulsion and finished with garlic oil.

Perhaps the favourite of the evening is the Seared Scallops Risotto ($26), prepared with kimchi barley risotto and served with seared garlic shoots, pork fat cracker and lardon. The fresh scallops are plump and juicy, perfectly seared with a nice char that complimented with the umami-ness of the accompanying ingredients. The other sharing main that we have gotten is the Thyme Smoked Pork Ribs ($38) which might get a bit too savoury and herby for some, but the overall texture of the Sakura pork ribs is fall off the bones tender. Fortunately, there’s the iberico chorizo chassolet, a bean stew, to cut through the richness if it gets too surfeited.

We ended the meal with the Chocolate Praline Dome ($14), a sweet treat of chocolate mousse and chocolate sponge, paired with a black sesame gelato and candied nuts.

Beurre (pronounced ‘burr’), an innovative French-Sin fusion gourmet.

Had the Burpple 1-for-1 4-course sets + freshly shucked oysters, truffle Escargot and signature Stuffed Black Chicken to share.

All the dishes were awesome! 58* Pork Belly, signature Stuffed Black Chicken, Chef’s Special Oyster, and freshly shucked oysters (from Hokkaido!!) were outstanding!

Lots of restros have mala inspired dishes, most were good attempts but have much room to improve. Beurre executed the 58* Pork Belly perfectly, balancing the spice, fragrance and pork belly really well. The mala/spicy roasted quinoa on top adds a crispy dimension to the dish, so flavors, aroma, texture and visual are all on point.

Signature Stuffed Black Chicken is a must have! I’ve only had black chicken in herbal soups, this is the first time I ate a roasted version of it. With truffle, foie gras and glutinous rice stuffed into it, again another innovative and marvelously executed dish.

Our Burpple 4 course set included
• Chef’s Special Oyster
• Scallop Grenobloise
• 58* Pork Belly
• Basque Cheesecake

Special callout to Samantha - kudos for the warm and attentive service 👍🏼

Beurre's Oyster Happy Hour: Mon - Sat, 5-7PM. With a minimum order of 2 drinks, you can get these babies at $2++ a pop. Do read the fine print, though - with a minimum purchase of 6 oysters & maximum of 12 per bill, there isn't much wiggle room IMHO. I reckon a table of 2 diners would optimize this perfectly.... Or a single solo yolo diner like myself 😂

So these oysters... They are the bomb, man. While not the plumpest, they are juicy enough for my liking. Slightly creamy & with a tinge of brineyness - which is the flavour profile I enjoy. I ordered 6 oysters for myself & tbh as I sit here typing this, I'm tempted to order 6 more to finish on my own...

I enjoy my oysters best with a squeeze of lemon & a nice glass of wine. Pleased to find that Beurre's drinks menu has some pretty affordable options. I chose the Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio. A light & fruity one, it has hints of pears & apples, which sounds easy to drink - & that it was. It also complemented the oysters nicely, warranting a double thumbs up from me 👍🏻👍🏻

Place is quite chill. Warm lighting.
Chocolate Praline Dome($14) - 6.5/10 Crumbs are salty. Chocolate is sweet. Everything in one mouth is summarized into Chocolate cake. Near the centre bottom of the dome, there is a small surprise of biscuit like layer.
