Overall, all the dishes were yummy although don’t expect polished/ sophisticated fare and there is room for improvement on presentation. The bbq combination was a platter of hainan chicken, roast duck and chasiew. All were tender & tasty and our favorite was the duck. The chasiew was a bit fatty and sweet but still good. We also enjoyed the steamed tofu that was so soft and smooth it tasted almost like soyabean, and had a nice pairing with minced meat flavored with salted fish. The spinach was well-cooked and flavorful with a delicious mix of three eggs and the herbal prawn soup was also enjoyable for its rich herbal aroma.

The other stuff I ordered is the BBQ 3-Combination (Roasted Duck, Kampong Chicken, Cracking Pork Belly) and Seafood Tofu Soup.

For those staying in the West, you will be happy to know that Canton Paradise will open a new outlet at JEM end August 2018.
Alas my favourite dim sum of all time — chicken feet! Though I still can’t fathom why everyone makes it so oily, but I still eat it because ❤️ pork ribs was normal meh and the beancurd thing tasted similar to ngoh hiang with zhup
One consistent quality in the dim sum here is how tender they managed to make almost everything! That had to be the softest CCF ever, though my mother felt that it was a little over. Carrot cake was one of my fav here, surprisingly soft as well (but can do with more flavour and liao!).
XLB was lacking that (scalding-hot, tongue-burning) kick that comes with the sudden overflow of hot soup when burst, but charsiu pao was good, with really fluffy buns, though wished the filling could be a little more generous.
With some effort put into the plating, the Deep-fried Pork Ribs with Minced Garlic (S$16.80) comes with six pieces of pork ribs that are dry on the outside but still a little tender and juicy inside. If I can be a little unglamourous, I will just pick up the rib and eat it with my hands.
However, if I am coming back the next time, this will not be a dish I will order again. This is because the ribs had lost its original taste during the deep fried process, and the dryness and garnishing had stolen much of the limelight. Somehow, I could not identify the specialty of this dish.
this in house made spring water tofu was simply delish. good firmness but so so silky delicate at the same time it almost defy science. muted with a tinge of soy freshness taste, the marinated steamed pate and soya sauce makes this extremely enjoyable
so say the legendary 秘制肥婆黑叉烧. this refine plate of char siew's meat to fat ratio was well balanced to please either the lean meat or the fatty meat lovers. i would prefer more fat so texture was tad tough to me. a bit too polished taste for me too cause the charred smoky flavor was not intense enough. but then am nitpicking.
Prawn & mango fritters / har kao / prawn in beancurd skin / baked black truffle chicken pie / crispy pork buns / custard buns #latergram #foodporn
Canton is one of the few places that we can find century egg in 红油. As good as we could remember.
Had some of the piglet 流沙包, that was not shown in the picture, and it’s sad to say that their standard for that particular item had dropped. The custard inside was not as runny and was grainy instead.
However, the fried rice and the honey bbq pork bun were the redeeming factor for today’s visit!
learnt from my previous lesson and chose to go with the normal kampong chicken, roast duck and char siew. no point paying for the upgrades and getting the overkill fats. these base level choices were good enough already.
and we also learnt that mango prawns are a rarity in dim sum restaurants nowadays. anybody seen these in other places please let me know.
other than the hk roast and mango prawns, we also ordered the usual suspects. har gow, siew mai, mushroom chee cheong fun, egg tarts, fried yam puffs, crispy char siew baos, chilli dumplings. and a soup to hit the $100 requirement.
the mushroom chee cheong fun and yam puffs are worth a try if u have not tried them before.
if you are not too hiam and can chin cai eat like me, canton paradise can easily satisfy your tummy. standards are kinda consistent and price wise, its still tank-able for me.
the hk roast and soup added up to around 50 already.
16 per pax after the $50 off the total bill.
and we still have another 3 vouchers to use in the family. paradise really knows how to take our money.
