preferred the boneless beef short prime rib in soy sauce marinade over the black pork belly. the service was incredible they kept changing our grill and helped us cut the pork belly even tho they were super busy
A rather good traditional Korean bbq restaurant that uses 100% charcoal. I went for the buffet which came with a free flow of banchan, lettuce and egg. The buffet options are limited to meat dishes only with choices such as marinated beef, beef brisket (limited to 150g/pax), marinated chicken in soy sauce, marinated chicken in chilli sauce and marinated/non-marinated pork belly and pork collar. They are also quite strict with the 90 mins buffet policy to make space for other patrons.
The meat came in thick-cut slices and was well marinated. My dining companions incl myself all preferred the marinated range of meat. It grills well over charcoal with a nice smoky flavour. They also change the grill plate frequently (without asking) to ensure we get clean and non-charred plates to enjoy bbq our meat. I feel the buffet price is worth the quality of meat but if you are looking for premium quality then maybe you can consider going ala-carte.
We also ordered a kimchi pancake separately to share and I would totally recommend this to anyone who is considering getting one π
90 Mins Buffet γ$29.90 / Adult
The only meat that's not free-flow. But unlike my previous visit, it was not the best cut. It was easily undercooked or overcooked.
(Clockwise from top left) Japchae, kimchi, bean sprouts, potato salad, fishcake, radish. Below average I'd say. I controlled myself to focus on the meats.
The better beef this time surprisingly, more than the premium brisket. The latter was easily undercooked or overcooked. At least this had the bulgogi marinade.
Been awhile since my last visit and Iβm so pleased that the service and quality of food is still as good as I remembered! My favourite is definitely the Soy Chicken, which is perfectly marinated and tender. Their kimchi was pretty delicious as well, yummy as is or grilled over the charcoal. Servers are attentive and frequently change the grill for us, and refills came promptly. As it is a pretty popular spot, be prepared to wait a little despite making a reservation. Made a reservation at 6.30pm and only started eating around 7pm!
The food was good and the army stew is a must try! ambience is perfect for a little gathering with friends to catch up:)
This has become my go-to place for KBBQ and I canβt help but to feel a bit sad that it became so popular π Made a reservation at 2pm hoping to avoid the crowd but there was still a long queue. Only managed to get a seat at 2.30pm.
The meats were delicious, My go-to is the soy chicken, pork belly and beef brisket. The soy chicken can be a little inconsistent, but i loved how they made cuts in the meat so that it cooks more evenly. The service is quick, and they frequently changed the hotplate, which is very much appreciated!!
Remember to make a reservation because this is a popular place! They used to have weekday and weekend prices but I think itβs been fixed at $29.90.
This restaurant offers great service, great food and great experience. But most importantly my family, IT OPENS UNTILL 5AM!!! When you are hungry because u watch some mukbang at midnight, this restaurant will be ur saver HAHAHAH.
The price point is around 40 per pax but it is very filling. There are also unlimited side dishes which taste wonderful! And egg around the bbq plate. I recommend marinated pork belly for bbq π and their fried chicken. Oh and one of the Korean waitress is super friendly and kept helping us with the bbq and refilling side dishes without we even asking!! π₯Ί I love this place!
Don Dae Bak uses charcoal to grill the meats, and some were pretty good! The pork belly slices are fresh not frozen, and the quality is actually pretty decent. The weekday buffet goes for $27.90 per pax and one of the best part is actually the free flow omelette that you can get and with the grill, it is possible to make it soft and fluffy π most decent Korean BBQ places tend to be rather pricey, hence this is a good recommendation if you are looking for something in the middle ground π
I visited DDB twice - the first time was a pleasant experience with the food being brought promptly, side dishes being refilled and charcoal being changed frequently. The meat was fresh and I like the thick cut of the pork.
However, I visited DDB again in Dec and a server was very paggro and told her colleagues not to serve us the meat we ordered, basically hinting at us to leave at 1.5h after our booking time. We only got the charcoal after waiting for 15mins. How can we eat anything without the charcoal fire? We were also constantly served the wrong meats, and the side dishes which we requested a refill for were brought to the kitchen and never seen again. We also requested for a refill of the egg multiple times but never got it. This visit was very distressing and it tainted my impression of DDB. I would not recommend it anymore.
Pricey, which is expected of Korean pancakes, yet very ordinary. A restaurant marked by atrocious service at the counter - they take reservations but can't deliver tables on time - and great service at the table.
All you can eat meat buffet for $29.90++ on the weekends ππΌ The variety of meat was good and it was well marinated. Although we waited for super long, the wait was definitely worth it. Go for the pork options before the chicken ones π»
Ordered through grabfood self pick up. Was a pretty bad meal as the noodles were just clumped together and the soup was sour and not like any broth. Thankfully there was kimchi and fishcake side dishes to cover the taste. Might have scarred me and may think twice before ordering at other restaurants too.
Don Dae Bak is a cosy Korean barbecue joint located at Kreta Ayer offering authentic and pocket-friendly Korean BBQ buffet. Enjoy high quality meats cooked over charcoal that are well seasoned and served in huge portions with free slow steamed eggs and side dishes.
Besides their barbecue, they also offer a wide range of Korean food. I recommend trying the nourishing ginseng chicken soup, the comforting Jajangmyeon, the tasty seafood pancake, and the crispy & flavourful Korean fried chicken (cream onion & soy garlic).
Come down for an authentic Korean food experience!
I was a bit disappointed to see that they donβt use charcoal anymore but the meat quality was still good! The servings are quite large though, these were only for 2. It was quite worth the money at $23.90+ for a lunch buffet too.
The meats spread are plenty! We only ordered beef and pork for 3 pax but it was a big serving for us to manage. Have to admit, barbecued meats are sweeter on charcoal grill! We love it but they can do better with a bigger floor area to fit more tables.
At $23.90, this buffet provides great value with a selection of good quality meats including marinated beef, beef brisket, thick cut pork belly and pork collar. I would say that the quality of meat here is much better than the ones at K.cook, especially with the use of a charcoal grill that imparts a charred, smoky flavour.
Service was decent, they take the initiative to change the grilling plates and charcoal, but do take some time to refill water or other side dishes such as the molten egg.
However, we came at 1:30, and were told that the last order for would be at 2 only after we were seated. As such, we weren't able to have our fill, but I was still satisfied and would come back again, albeit at an earlier time!
