Iβve been here thrice and Iβd like to think it translates into positive compliments about Genius Central.
The food selection is extensive and easy to choose from the informative menu. Food here is also right up my alley, having a good mix of Asian bowls to western fare (i.e. my to go quesadillas). Portions here will suffice and are extremely value for money with Burpplebeyond.
Next the ambience is fun with mainly millennials spotted working/studying in this cafe, event/ working space. Location? Right next to Telok Ayer MRT which reminds me why this is an excellent choice for dinner/lunch plans with a group of friends.
Pan-fried seabass + traditional llvornese sauce + dairy-free mash potatoes + broccoli + haricot fine beans + baby spinach + mixed herbs + olive oil
πΈ: $26++ (on burpple beyond!)
π
: π most tasty can βcheatβ worthy for me breaking my cleanse
π: woahhh the Llvornese sauce is mama mia. The seabass was beautifully cooked with crisp of the skin. The dill complemented the fish very well (i really like dill too). The vegetables were cooked just nice π
The mash was a bit textured but i dont mind, cux i know its real hahahaha. Hello, order this one πππ
Even though, the pasta/risotto were meh, i will be back to order the other interesting dishes on the menu. π
House Hot Smoked Salmon + creamy cashew sauce + capers + mixed herbs + sunflower seed + pumpkin seed
πΈ: $22++ (on burpple beyond!)
π
: π
π: again, just another pasta lor. Same, a bit overcooked and this time, its a bit niam niam. I always prefer to hav some sauce around my pasta to slurp it up together. Same as the risotto but pasta base π
House Hot Smoked Salmon + arborio rice + white wine + nutritional yeast + coconut milk + mixed herbs + red raddish + lime zest
πΈ: $22++ (on burpple beyond!)
π
: π
π: cant figure out what makes it has a tinge of sour - now that i see the ingredients listed, maybe the lime zest. We were guessing its the capers π€·π»ββοΈ
I agree with my dear friend that risotto is actually quite hard to cook beautifully. Again, its decent but defo not our fav dish. It was a little on the dry side. Maybe i have it in my mind that the rice would have seeped all the gravy & goodness in cux risotto tends to be pretty rich. Not so for this. Maybe less likely to feel βsickβ frm the richness. But this richness is probably the missing βpieceβ.
Portobello & Button Mushrooms + creamy cashew sauce + thyme + rosemary + gluten-free penne (can also choose to have normal spaghetti)
πΈ: $18++ (on Burpple beyond!)
π
: π
π: its a gluten mushroom pasta lorrr...maybe im getting used to more al dente type of pasta (and pasta shouldnt be gluten free π
). It was also a little dry.
My efforts of eating clean is gone hahaha.
TBH nothing special, so no need to be too enticed by it. There are much better options on the menu. Oppps
Portobello & Button Mushrooms with a thin crust base
πΈ: $20++
π
: π
π: it was beautifully charred topped with loads of gooey cheese - yum. Checked the boxes of a decently tasty pizza. I dont quite consider this a βhealthierβ option but YES, for comfort food.
