One of the best beef redang I had. Love how the spice in the redang is chopped coarse enough to taste and the flavor was outstanding. Definitely worth the wait and travel to try this.
Not many Nasi Padang stalls in SG do it like they do. I present Istimewa Nasi Padang in the Alexandra area, within close vicinity of ABC Brickworks Market.
My standard order would be a 2 meat 2 veg selection.
The meats would be their super lemak Beef Rendang and chewy Beef Paru Goreng(Fried Beef Lung) if it’s up your alley. If not, there are other amazing alternatives like their gigantic Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) in drumstick or wing versions as well as their Sambal Sotong.
My veggies would be their Sayur Lodeh(Vegetable Stew in Coconut Milk) and their sweet Sambal Goreng. Their Sambal Goreng is really one of the best around.
This is probably my favourite Nasi Padang stall around so far, with its WIDE variety of dishes and ingredients for people of all palates.
Its for 2 pax, but for me, its for 3 pax. My fav is paru, its soft and slightly chewy.
The beef rendang a bit tough.
They also have version for non beef nasi ambeng..

Now a second generation Nasi Padang place I’ve been raised on since a teen. Fantastic flavors and a fried chicken specialty best eaten when it jumps out the wok. Fragrant Beef Rendang & curries, you will never go wrong with a plate piled high with the variety of items
Pity it's sold out! Settled for ayam rendang, sambal goreng and sayur lodeh. So-so only. Must return someday to try.
Freshly fried chicken and lots of sambal does the trick for me. We arrived at 12.30 and almost all the dishes are sold out. Yes it’s that crazy here. Not surprising as it’s incredibly good value. Three of us and total bill came up to SGD13.80.
Decided to lunch in today - was browsing honest bee's food delivery and Istimewa nasi padang caught my eye.
I went for option "Famished" which includes:
- beef rendang
- fried chicken
- sayur lodeh
- long beans
I must say it's pretty value for money at $7.50. The beef rendang is oh-so-good... together with the sambal chilli- the rice was devoured in no time!
Before I embarked, it was a good thing I googled. Could not stop feeling gleeful when my research showed that my actual destination was just diagonally across from this shop. Yay!!

My selection were lodeh (curry cabbage), ayam goreng (fried chicken) and sambal sotong. And of course a generous dollop of sambal belachan. The lodeh was alittle sweet. Sambal sotong, surprisingly, the sambal bears no hint of heat. It was more like a sweet and sour tone thereby it brought out the natural umaminess of the squid. Fried chicken was crispy with a turmeric finish. This was actually quite tasty but it could be better if it was more moist inside. I was hoping the sambal belachan would pack a certain amount of heat. It turned out to be tangy.
