Been eating here like forever. The menu has changed over the years but the taste is always good.

As it’s near CNY, we also ordered their Prosperity Toss YuSheng. Comes with baby abalones and not as sweet as those from other outlets including the branded ones. Was told the sweet sauce was made in-house by chef.

The other perennial favourite was the Stewed Live Soon Hock and Cabbage Soup. Golden soup with fish fillets warms your stomach. Not a soup person but I can always have two bowls of this.

To top off, the house specialty Jia Wei Ocean Gems Vermicelli in Opeh leaf is as usual a fantastic filler for any space left over in your stomach. Braised bee hoon with bits of shrimps, sotong, fish and shiitake mushrooms, all masterly blended into a bowl of heart warming goodness.

A little bit disappointed with the Poached Baby Cabbage Mushroom and Dried Shrimps. Hardly any dried shrimps and they were soggy as opposed to crispy crunchy ones before. What happened?

Another new dish I tried was the Ah Ma Hae Chor - Prawn Fritters in Beancurd Skin. I can taste real water chestnuts and shrimps but I felt the sauce was a let down. Maybe I am too steeped in tradition that I need my sweet black sauce with Hae Chor.

Damage was $269 with a 25% discount as AccorPlus member. Strongly recommend for those looking for casual dining, Chinese cuisine.

This was excellent, a highlight of our visit.

The crisp chicken skin and juicy tender chicken meat comes cleanly off the bone, releasing an addictive burst of meaty sweet salty savoury flavour with each bite.

Served with chicken salt on the side, though I felt the chicken was already sufficiently delicious on its own. Yum.

A visual treat as it's served in a boat-shaped opeh leaf.

The silky thin rice vermicelli noodles pick up the gravy well, having a bold sweet salty savoury earthy flavour.
.
The garnish of "ocean gems" include tender boneless mackerel fish chunks and bouncy deshelled prawns, both with meaty sweet savoury flavour, along with crunchy leeks and tender straw mushrooms with vegetal earthy sweet flavour.

This house signature was delicious.

The thick gloopy gravy of egg white and dried shrimp has a lovely sweet shrimpy salty eggy flavour, complementing the soft wobbly tofu bean curd with its mild grainy sweet flavour.

The strips of luffa melon have been poached till soft and slippery, yet still holding a mild vegetal sweet flavour.

This unique, contemporary dish has a base of crisp ice plant and juicy ume / sour plum infused tomato, bright with vegetal sweet sour herbal flavour.

This resembles a classic salt-and-pepper squid, with the fresh bouncy chunks of squid coated in a crisp crunchy blanket of fried garlic and cereal.

Has an addictive sweet salty savoury grainy flavour, and a bit of spice kick on the end, yum. Pairs well with red chili.

Made the way grandma likes it.

This features large rounds of tightly packed minced pork and shrimp meat balls, crunchy with a juicy chew, releasing a satisfying meaty savoury sweet salty flavour with each bite.

Pairs well with the sticky sweet dipping sauce on the side, as well as a bowl of white rice.

Highly recommended to try this 自制椰奶布丁雪糕 Chilled Home made Coconut Pudding, Vanilla Ice Cream (per serving $15.00++) when you dine at Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant, This is so good that I crave to go for second one.

Several highlights in the ala carte menu include the Curly Kale Soup ($20) which is made from blending the superfood, kale, into a soup and then paired with braised crab meat and bean curd. As for the new dim sum menu, it includes a variety of handcrafted innovative dim sum such as the aesthetically pleasing Jia Wei Butterfly Pea Har Gow ($7.80 for 3 pcs) with prawn filling, Australian Scallop Pea Flower Rice Roll ($8.80) and Wok-fried Daikon Cake with XO Sauce ($10), another classic dim sum dish that has the umami-ness from the XO sauce. One of the highlights of the evening has got to be the Crispy Local Soft-Shell Crab with Ice Plant ($22), a dish that was wiped clean due to its refreshing flavours from the yuzu dressing and burst of sweetness from the ume infused tomato.

Other favourites and signature dishes that are available in the menu include the Wok-fried Wagyu Beef Cubes ($48) in black garlic sauce and asparagus, Wok-fried Celtuce Stem ($24) with Szechuan dried chilli for that tinge of spice and to round up the savouries, the Crispy Egg Noodle with ocean gems such as sliced fish and prawns cooked in a chicken broth gravy ($26). What better way to end the meal than with the Chilled Homemade Coconut Pudding ($15) that contains a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Want something healthy & nutritious? Go for their silky smooth Jia Wei Tofu with luffa melon poached in egg white ($26++)! It is pretty light on seasoning but I like how I can taste the natural flavours of the ingredients.

You have to try their signature Jia Wei Ocean Gems Vermicelli in Opeh Leaf ($28++)! 🍜 Slurp up the soft & flavourful vermicelli which have fully absorbed the essence of the superior stock! 💯 Served in opeh leaf which imparts a woody fragrance, this dish paired with prawns, scallops, fish & shimeiji mushrooms is a must-have! 😋

Featured here is their Chilled Homemade Coconut Pudding with Ice Cream ($12++)! Served in a young coconut fruit 🥥, this pudding was so soft, smooth & jiggly 🤍 like beancurd - you will have no problem slurping it up! 😋 While it is light & refreshing, the scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍦 complements it by lending some sweetness 💗.
