802 Wishlisted
老王砂煲小厨 Lau Wang Claypot Delights – Since 1985 Every dish will forever be unique; from the way it is prepared, through cooking process, to the time it is served, up to the moment each meal is consumed Prepared in the kitchen with secret marinating procedures, each dish is then cooked upon order taken. Using only the best “Chee Seng” sesame oil, coupled with minced garlic together with our fragrant pre-fried oil containing a mix of ingredients, the main ingredient of choice is then stir fried on the spot. For our herbal soup dishes, a mix of 6 key herbal ingredients are boiled together with our pre boiled soup base is then used to cook your ingredient of choice (frog leg, chicken and fish). Served exclusively in individual Claypots (Cast iron / Clay), each dish is presented to you piping hot. The fragrance of the dishes as they are being served is so overwhelming, it makes you want to pick up your chopsticks to dig in. The Claypot helps keep the food warm throughout the meal, so as you pour each dishes’ sauce over your white rice, you will still be able to enjoy the same sensational effect as if it was just served!

One of their signature dishes, a definite must try if you eat here.

Overall very enjoyable dish. The chicken pieces were tender, and smooth with some cornstarch on the surface, but not excessive that it loses the bite. The sauce was well made, with the savoriness of soy sauce with a fragrant sesame oil taste.

Very affordable as well, costs about 5 bucks for a small portion

老王(lau Wang) claypot delights has enjoyed some fame serving up affordable claypot dishes in the area. If I am not wrong, there are other branches as well.

One of their specialty is their Brinjal. Very homely taste, nicely balanced dish of savouriness of the sauce with the sweet gooey eggplant. Very good with rice as well. The other side veggies with the dish, liek the onions were also nicely caramelised with the raw edge taken off

Price of a small pot is about 5 bucks which is a steal.

This place is our go-to for affordable and delicious claypot dishes. We ordered the sesame oil chicken (with chilli), the sambal sotong with lady fingers and homemade ngoh hiang. They are generous with their portions (there was a lot of sotong and chicken!!!) and the sauces are not too salty. In my opinion, the ngoh hiang was only average tasting. But we would definitely go back for their sesame chicken, which is their signature dish. :)

Considering the price we paid ($15), the meal is very worth it. However, if you are a 小辣 person, the mala chicken hotpot might be too spicy or "ma" for you. The herbal chicken soup was very flavorful. Portions and chicken pieces were pretty generous.

Find myself craving these dishes often!! I’ve been a big fan for years. The eatery is simple, no-frills and often packed to the brim. My favourites are the sesame oil chicken, dark sauce eggplant and herbal fish soup! Every item is super flavourful and served piping hot in clay pots. This was slightly under $20 for two of us. Also highly recommend the luohanguo drink!!

I have been patronising Lau Wang for many years and I would say they have never failed me with their delicious sesame chicken! If you love home cooked dishes with a hint of Wokhey, come here!
